Would an empty A/C not let the compressor to turn on..?

I haven't checked mine closely yet, but when I turn on A/C it doesn't seem to even start the compressor. There certainly is no load on the engine.

Yes, every time. There is a low pressure switch that disables the AC if the freon pressure is to low. It is a protect for the compressor. Without this switch, the compressor would burnout because there'd be no oil (which is in the freon).

No you won't. You can't buy Freon (a registered trademark of the DuPont Corp) without special licensing. Besides, NO contour ever made used Freon.

Buy R-134a. It is NOT Freon.

In any event, the pressure from the the refrigerant can might be enough to close the cycling switch and engage the clutch. It takes about 45-50 psi to make the switch.

Sooo... my A/C Clutch keeps turning on and off, and giving me warm air out my vents because I have low R-134a?

Same here... my A/C was somewhat strong when I first bought her... then she faded away... takes longer to get it cold then my moms escort...

Tell me how it works out

Ummm... got a can, got the hose/connector, please verify i did this correctly:

Start car
Turn A/C on
Connect the can and make sure the top valve is open (mine has a valve on top)
Let run for a few
Unplug

I think thats the right order.... cus my A/C still feels alittle warmish... not ice cold like my moms escort...

You should get a kit with a guage so you know where it's at.
