Not true.

3M4Z does not have the integral gasket.

The 5L8E has the integral gasket.

The 3M4Z kit is $75.
The 5L8E kit is over $100.

The only difference is the gasket.

NEITHER kit comes with the YL8Z pickup or windage tray!!!

Those must be purchased separately if needed.

All 01+ engines already have the YL8Z windage tray.
All 01+ Escape engines have the YL8Z pickup as well.

DAMN folks this is all OLD & very REHASHED information.

It's even posted on my website too...

Well there you go, mostly. That clears up a few things for me. Also explains why my pickup tube (98) had to be modded to fit my block (01) when the motor went in.

But, Pete and I still wonder about the dipstick and the dipstick tube. Same all across (my 98 works with the 01 windage and the 98 pan), or changed along the way and required with the new pan?

Yes, we all bow to your ultimate knowledge on the subject, unfortunately there is/was still a bit of confusion over this. Thanks for participating!

Maybe there should be a sticky added, just for the oil pan and pickup clarifying

The dipstick & tube for any regular Duratec engine is interchangeable.

It was revised once in 01 (or around there)

Now 6qts shows "full" on the dipstick.

I am using the revised dipstick from the 5/02 Taurus/Sable Engine I am running and using it with the 3M4Z pan and YL8Z pickup & windage tray.

Didn't you have to use the +'01 Escape style main bolts to use the YL8Z windage tray?

Yup, you have to use the 3L mains to work with the revised pickup tube and windage tray. . .

This info was confusing as hell to me, but Demon has been kind of enough to clairfy it for me a gazillion times,

To repeat:
New Escape Oil Pan +
New Pickup +
New tray +
New Main Studs +
New Dipstick and Sleeve.

That's all that needs to be done.

Now you can just do the new oil pan if you don't want to mess with the mains, but if you're getting your engine done, migh as well, right. . . .the part numbers are ALL listed above or in other posts. . .

OK, just compared my unoffical email reply "invoice" with the actual shipping invoice (from Bill).

In Bills email reply, he listed the 3M4Z number.

In the actual shipping invoice, it's the 58LE number

Cost was $117 shipped

It does have the integral gasket.

Sorry for the confusion.

This is all if your using a 2.5l and want to upgrade pans right? Not if you already have a 3.0,espcealy a 2001+, than you only need the pan and dipstick, correct? This is the 3.0l forum so some may get confuse..umm like me .

Yes you sort of get those for free with a 5/02 casting date engine.

To answer the question "straightly" (where have you folks been the last several years??? )

Yes you need the 01+ main studs to mount the YL8Z pickup & windage tray.

You can use any dipstick because they all have the same protruding length and base mounting point. Only the marks "on" the dipstick changed when comparing my 00 SVT to the 5/02 3L
