I'm a big fan, and I'd love to do a project with one someday.

Start here.

There is a lot of web info available, but that's a good place to start.

Be sure to check out www.turboford.org . You should find a buncha XRs in the classifieds, all to fit your budget

Always wanted to get my hands on one, but decided to go for a motorcycle instead. As I've been advised, get a parts car and be sure you like to do your own work! IRS + 2.3T! + RWD would be such a fun project car... Good luck with it!

Well, I'm not much of an expert, but I'd say the later the better.

Actually, there's a great article from Grassroots Motorsports if I can find it...

Nope. Sorry. You're better off hanging out at that forum over there. If I find the article I'll let you know.

Too much car? (shrug) I too test drove one, when I was almost nineteen, but I was driving around Lisle, IL and didn't have much chance to wind it out.

I ended up buying a six-year-old Saab 9000 Turbo, slushbox, maintenance nightmare from the nethermost hell. I've [censored] about that car enough, so I'll spare everyone this time...
