The verts are a little slower than the hatches. (over 200lbs more weight will do that)

I do not see it beating the SVT "drivers" being equal.

The hatch is decent but is also poorly geared.

Advantage 0-40 to the hatch. (~2900lbs for an 02)

Advantage 40-XXX to the SVT.

Either way it's always a driver's battle with any pair well within a second of each other.

there was a guy at the local track with a cai and cat back on a 02 GT 5spd.

dude couldn't get better than 15.9.

figure the spyder as a high hig 15 sec car with a good driver.

A familly member of mine has an eclipse that I drive on a regular basis, it is an 03 GTS Spyder with the sport-tronic(auto) transmission. There is definatly no contest between the two, the csvt would win! I have never taken the eclipse to the track but I predict that it would be in the low 16's. If it where a hardtop and manuel it might be alot closer, but anything from a roll the csvt would still win. The eclipse has more torque then the tour, plus the GTS version has slightly steeper gearing then the regular GT, so off the line I would look for the eclipse to jump ahead then slowly get reeled in.
