Isn't the Juguar X-Type based on the Mondeo platform? Any of those parts interchangeable? 3.0, all-wheel drive?  I know. It's a sick thought.

Yes, and welcome to 2001! 
JK It is the 2001-now Mondeo platform, not the CDW27 of 1993-2000. Best to just trade in for a used Jag, instead of trying to make a silk purse out of a ......

No the current Mondeo platform and Mazda 6 platforms are different, for now at least.

Nope. The Jag is built on the 01+ Mondeo platform. Mazda 6 is a platform all it's own.

Or which is the newer platform
Since the Mazda 6 is the newer car I guess it is the newer platform.
so which is the mondeo platform
let me guess the mazda 6 will be the new mondeo platform and the JK is using the old mondeo platform so we should be seeing a new baby JK in the future.
