From a street handling (not really autocross) standpoint, would you guys suggest 225/50/16 over stock size on stock SVT rim.. I "think" diameter of the 225/50/16 is same as 205/55/16 but slightly graeter than the 215? 225 probably esthetically a bit better at filling out the fenderwells

Depends on the tire. If you go with something that would have a thicker sidewall, I'd go with the narrower tire since you're trying to squeeze it around a 6.5" wheel. Otherwise, with a "regular" tire choice, I'd opt for the wider tire to get more rubber on the road. But then you'd have to run slightly higher pressures to achieve the appropriate gains for more adept "street" driving.

How about say the BFG 225/50/16 KDW?

If you can afford the KDWs, go for it. I would personally recommend the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 for daily driving though.

As well as the Kuhmo's, I recommend the Bridgestone S-03's.. a little pricy... but can you really put a price on heaven?
