So I am driving and out of nowhere my dome lights falls out of the ceiling! It hits me in the face and dangles there by its wires! I am like WTF! Apparently the clips that screw into the roof gave way and and sent the light crashing down!
I did a search and nothing like this came up, has anyone else had this problem? I can only imagine how much Ford is gonna want for a replacement!

Same thing happened to me. The clips on mine broke too, so I just super glued the clips back together and it has stayed put.

I've got a gray colored light assembly if you're in need.

Are you talking about the center dome light found on later Contours ('00 year, maybe '99 too?) or the between-the-visors light?

Ours (between-visor kind) lost a clip or two over the past year and now sticks out a bit more on the left side than it should.

Mines a 98 and its the dome between the visors. I wasnt aware that they made one for the center of the roof, or are you talking about the rear one like on the mystiques?

Thats how mine started to fall, I noticed that one side was hanging lower than the other and then a few months later the whole thing fell out! So be careful! All your gonna need is a good bump, and BAM!

Mine was loose last year but it hadn't fallen yet. Upon closer inspection I saw that the plastic clips that screw into place were broken. I called Bill Jenkins at Sentry Lincoln-Mercury and bought a replacement for around $17. Mine is a 98 Mystique.

While you're in there do the lighted moonroof switch mod, if you have one. Bill, or the guy who is now doing his parts orders for CEG, has everything you need cheap.

The "center" one (pretty much smack dab in the center of the headliner) is prevalent in the year 2000 Contours and possibly the '99's, I'm not sure. One of my friends has an '00 SE and it has it. It's likely another decontention because the light looks really out of place in the car (probably a light "borrowed" from another vehicle model). I'll try to find a pic.
