Funny, My ports were significantly smaller on my 3L heads than the gaskets.

Use whichever you like but I found I had a lot of exhaust porting to do to match the gaskets on my engine. Perhaps the escape ports were smaller? Perhaps there is variation among the ports or perhaps the gaskets on the escape were larger. I also had FelPro gaskets on my old headers and there was not a big difference to me.
