The plate you need depends on what your shift tower looks like.

And that Focus shift tower you are talking aobut is located on top of the tranny. There are two towers: one in the car and the problematic one on top of the tranny.

We will wait until the plates are done. I like to keep the money part until the very last. I look at it like if something goes wrong in the group buy, you can't (not saying you would) mad at us for holding you money for 2 to 3 weeks before the product ships. So when all the ducks are lined up with plates in hand. Then we will start taking money. We will give everyone two to three days to pay like last time and then ray will order the shifters. So that way we are sure from payment date to ship date is less than three days. Last time it was one or two if I remember.

I would feel better about the gb, and installation, if I had some instructions from someone that has already busted their knuckles and made the mistakes, so that I don't have to.

Here you go. Instructions from first group buy.

I think that they may be on like page 20 or so, but they are there.

Just so I am on the right page. This is the proper installation for the 2000? and the 'plate' I am buying is the one that will go underneath my car? Do I have to make my own gasket?

Finaly got my plate made up and my shifter installed! Works great and I even used the centering spring without any problems whatsoever For you guys with the 2000 SVT this is the way to go...it will not crack, break or leak. I used Y2KSVT's instructions and instead of using plexiglass I used a piece of .125 aluminum plate and a piece of .125 closed cell foam rubber for a gasket. If you have a 2000 SVT and are intersted in a plate PM me and we can work a deal.

With Y2KSVT's instructions as my guide here are the pic's I took throughout the install. You can also go to web page for the pic's and read the captions to each pic.

shifter ready to come out.

bottom of car with heat shield removed

this is the plastic bottom plate and foam gasket you reomve

here is my new aluminum plate and gasket

this is how it goes on the shifter

The plan is to include the gasket for the 2000 plates if I can get the material. If not a large bead of RTV will work fine. Will let you know for sure next week.

So that is the proper installation for the 2000's and that is the type of plate being fabricated for this GB? Thanks for the help

Gang,

I pulled up the shift boot yesterday on my 98.5 csvt, and I definetly have a two piece shift mechanism. Also, I checked the build date, which is 4/98. I hope this information help's to insure that I get the proper parts, plates, etc, for my car.

Regards,
Lee Alvarez
