I posted this question a long time ago, but no one had any info, so I'm trying again.

I'm trying to figure out which wires:
1. Cause the clock to illuminate when the key is turned on
2. Allow the clock to dim with the dimmer when the headlights are turned on.

Reason I ask is because the dealer replaced my headlight switch under the recall a couple of years ago. The swicth they used has wires with colors that don't match the rest of the wiring harness. I took the switch panel off to paint it, and a few of the wire connectors came apart. I reconnected them to the best of my knowledge, but obviously got the clock illumination ones wrong.

So now the wiring diagrams are basically useless, since I don't know to match up the wires from the harness to the wires from the headlight switch. Any tips on how to figure this all out using a multitester or something?

PS. The clock bulb and fuse are fine.

See if this helps. Clock has 6 pin connector
1 2 3
4 5 6

1 BL hot in acc and run via fuse 32
2 W/GN from dimmer
3 BK/Y ground
4 Not used
5 Not used
6 O/Y hot at all times via fuse 34

This is for a '97 which doesn't have PATS.

'98 with PATS has 16 pin connector

8 16
. .
. .
1 9

3 VT Fuse 32
4 WH/RD Dimmer
5 BK/OG ground
11 BK/OG PATS
12 OG Fuse 34

Cool, thanks. Would you happen to have that info for the headlight switch as well ('98 w/PATS)?
