Stay away from Corollas, my friend has one... much trouble, they are cheap, but unefficent. An Escort is similar to a Corolla, get an escort

How, exactly, is 31/38 mpg "unefficient"?

An Escort over a Toyota...

Buying "American" (where is it built and it's parts made BTW!) is always great for the "economy", but let's not get absurd here...

Escort is a good car...but there is nothing wrong with a Corolla, they are really good cars. Toyota builds a quality product...don't matter what model it is.

What's absurd about it. The Escort has been a great car for Ford in its current incarnation. It's efficient, reliable, and you can pick one up for waaayy less than a Corolla = Newer, lower mileage car.

Check out some reliability ratings, and I've seen it as a recommended buy in many reviews. I'll look at hard data & buy what's best for my bottom line, not pay for a name or reputation. The Corolla is a fine car, but I think a person could do better with the same money on a newer Escort. IF a problem or accident should occur, I would expect parts & labor costs on a Toyota to be much higer.

I also got one for my daughter that has a 2.0L Ztec in it - something many here are quite familliar with.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Parts for my Toyota's have been very cheep and the engines are easy to work on; indeed, their engines are very common and pleniful.
