As you've probably noticed, the server has been having issues lately -- very slow or no response.

Today, I reloaded the database from backup and it seems to be working better now. Hopefully the problems are gone for now.

Hmmm, that didn't help. The web server is spinning out of control.

I just rebooted to an older kernel version that we were using up until a couple of days ago. Hold on to your hats...

Looks like the older kernel did the trick.

I turned off the ability to search every forum at once -- these queries were hitting the database pretty hard, especially if more than one is running at the the same time.
One can still search an entire category (General, Mods, Branches).
