lets see, this is a difficult one. i cant start my car when the windshield wipers were on when i last turned the car off. does that make sence? so if im driving with them on and i park then get back in the car wont even try to start. it only happenes once in a while but the fact that this isnt normal worries me. could there be a short somewhere? btw ive owned this contour since it was brand new in 97 and this just started happening within the past year

thanks in advance
david

If I understood your post correctly, it means your battery is dead.

Yes, your battery might be going down and you might not have left your wipers on. This is a strange but reported occurance that when your battery is going down, your car won't turn over when you try to start but your wipers might cycle. This happened to me and yes I had a bad cell.

Guys, there is a TSB that describes your problem.
It has to do with the routing of the PATS harness near the ignition switch.
Search the archives.

My wipers were off, I pulled the stem down, thinking they were on (they weren't) and got a swipe.
