of course it can be removed.. the little circular metal piece comes out with needle nose pliers and the bulb along with it.. just be careful if you want to save the bulb, as it will break when the pliers pull onit and not the metal piece... go to auto zone and dont ask questions about the bulb.. the guys dont know... just pick up a bulb about the same size that will fit in the hole(its got to be 12 volts and low watts, they have them i got two on a card that you had to bend the metal leads from the new bulb to fit onto the circular metal piece to use the new bulb.....
total cost about $1.50 to $2.00 for the card with the two bulbs....

I checked with my local Autozone, Advance, etc. I couldn't find anything close to the size of the clock bulb.
Anyway, its not worth the hassle.

Ohhh trust me, it gets to ya. Late night driving you or a passenger needs to know the time. You turn on the map-light, and you cant see sh!t outside. It gets to ya.
