If you are doing this mod yourself .... GREAT! If you want someone to do it for you contact Buckshot. He has a website.

Do I still optimize the one I got even if I said I could get a brand new TB off a 4.6L mustang for about $50 or $75?

Why does everybody answer to optimize the stock one ????? i don't know for the 4.6 TB but i know a thing, i did optimize mine and i know 2-3 other people did it and it does'nt make any power gain on the dyno and no difference so why does everybody want to optimize it ???? I just asking the question, why does this how to still exist ? It'll cost you nothing but you'll do it for nothing
mods ?

Are you doing it right?
I have dyno proof of 2-3 HP across the entire RPM range with some upper RPM gains as high as 6-7 HP near redline on a mildly modded SVT. For a price range from free to 50-60 bucks for someone to do it for you, it seems almost silly to not do it. Just FYI, the 65mm Mustang TB is dyno proven to lose HP unless you're one highly modded SVT 2.5L or 3L.

I agree with Brad. The how-to describes a pretty conservative optimization, but still provided an unmistakable difference in the engines ability to breath, especially in the upper ranges. (I've re-optimized several times since that write up ) If there isn't a noticable difference after optimizing the TB, there is probably a much bigger restriction somewhere else in the intake or exhaust.
