Friend has one, driven it on a few occassions...
My thoughts???
For the money, you will not find a better family hauler, bar none. Period. I haven't driven the new TSX, which I'm sure is a fine automobile, but every time I drive the 6, I'm loving it more and more.
Sure, it could have more 'oomph', but I htink I'm personally past the stage where I want to have the fastest car on the block.
I would highly recommend it.

Under-rated handling and over-rated engine. Surely the later can be taking care of. Excellent car for the money.

so here's a goofy question... do you have to take a Mazda to a "Mazda" garage? or can Ford do all the maintainence?

Couple things: The TSX has one of the smoothest manual transmissions I have ever used, engagement was really smooth....but the throw was a little long. As far as the Mazda 6 goes, my only complaint were the seats on the sport package (doesn't anyone make a decent side bolster anymore ). Other than that decent engine and handling (although I wish it was a bit more taught).....and if I was really nit picking a bit more torque (even though you can spin the wheels easily from a stop)

Love the 6. I just helped my mom purchase a loaded up 6s with V6, auto, leather, etc - great car. My only gripe would be the auto tranny which can be a bit "confused" at times. This was pretty appearant at Mazda Rev-It-Up when driving them on the short auto-x track.
If my CSVT had less miles on it, I would be making the tough decision between the manual-tranny 6 and the Mazdaspeed Protoge.
The TSX looks like a darn near clone to the 6. I just can't justify the extra 5 grand (nice incentives out there now on the 6) and higher interest financing (6 was zero% for 60). The TSX has got a pretty darn strong 4cyl tho.

I finally got to rip around in a V6 Mazda 6. It was only an auto, but I was very pleased w/ the car. Except the tires, but that's just because I'm spoiled by very grippy performance tires on all of my cars

The 6 is a sweet car. The one in the picture is my fav. color too. Now Mazda just needs to come out with a "Mazdaspeed" version of the car with another +40 HP and it would be about perfect IMO
