I went over to zxtuner and found some really nice stuff.
Has anyone ever used any of it. I think I might buy the 2.5 esslinger cylinder head. The 4-2-1 header, MSD DIS ignition and MSD high presure fuel system with 83lbs injectors. I want to run an intercooled turbo system but I don't want to run to much boost. 16-21 lbs would make it almost impossible to be a daily driver.

First thing, get a MTX.
Second, don't worry about the Esslinger heads right now, there are tons of other items that would come on the list ahead of them.
Third, 83lb injectors????? NO NEED!!!!!
Fourth, get a zetec Focus, easier & cheapier.

Attitude? Its called realism.
Do you know how much boost you would need to run for 83lb injectors?
More than the engine could even handle.
Why would you need Esslinger 2.5 heads?
Stage 1 is enough for a small turbo and 1.5/2 will be more than adequate at power levels above a stock engine.
And we do have a good size aftermarket for a car produced for a limited time in limited numbers.

ok, I said want to run intercooled turbo, not am going to!! READ the fine print! I didnt mean 83 lbs thats crazy. There is no reason not to use all the other components. Basicly your telling me not to make my car that fast, not to move the redline to 8600 RPM's, not to increase HP and TORQUE, not to make it sound better, I think you need to make sure you didn't lose your balls. What, are you worried about my wallet??

If your not going to run a high flowing turbo system why get heads that will hurt performance?
Performance isn't about getting the biggest parts available,
its about matching parts to the application.
If you want to run an intercooled turbo with a decent amount of boost, the best way is to find a used low mileage Focus MTX.
There is nothing wrong with pointing out that 83lb injectors are complete overkill and that before worrying about the head the block should be strengthened, new pistons, connecting rods, and many other things would be a wiser first investment.
What's the fun of boost, if you have an ATX?
I never siad don't increase redline (although 8600 with stock internlas would be a BAD idea).
And I never said increase the performance of the car.
But if generic & outlandish questions are going to be asked, then expect to hear the smae kind of answers.

The esslinger heads are milled to raise compression = bad for turbo

Plus why buy a header if you're going to turbo, a turbo header would be included in the kit.

Oh, and from a fellow ATX owner...have fun getting that power to the ground !

ok scrap the turbo idea. just want to get a little more power out of it right now. later it will get the treatment so I need to keep the long run in mind. Heres what I was thinking about doing right now::

header, high flow cat, flowmaster series 40

intake manifold, intake spacer, throtle body, MAF sensor, cold air kit

msd coil pack, plug wires, plugs

cams, adjustable cam gears, dual stage dampner

relocate battery to trunk

How about all that for a start. what do you think?? any suggestions??

Forget about a cat, just go with muffler.
Zetec doesn't need a dual stage dampner (its actually called a dual mode dampner).
Intake (actually throttle body) spacer is snake oil, don't wory about it.
Add crank UDP & chip to the list.

everyone is still so discouraging about everything. sad.

lighten up, if someone wants to do something to their car, let them it's theirs, if it doesn't work, oh well, laugh at them then for wasting money.

no need to bash for trying.

These ore good ideas (well some of them) I have an ATX and it has mods but one must realize that it has limits. and like others here who have ATX's i tend to push the limits. But If you plan on moding look and see whats been done and what has been proven to work on are cars. and go from there and it never hurts to try somthing new. Like something that has not been done before or a diffrent comb. to get a simalr end resalt. But enjoy and mod it. But do rember it will not be a MTX, It still can be fun. and ENJOY. and rember to Keep it cool it runs better that way.

SleeperZ, you can still have a high performance car that passes emissions. Just use a highflow cat. They are cheap at summitonline. A throttle body spacer is "snake oil" but an intake manifold spacer isn't. It will keep a metal intake manifold from getting hot. When I get a new intake manifold the air/fuel mixture will be cooler as it enters the cylinder. A crank UDP would increase power and response but I don't care about the hard take offs. When I'm done my car will be able break the tires loose at 50 MPH with no boost/nitrous. Thats with my ac pumping out cold air. instead of getting a UDP why don't you take off you AC. Its very heavy and it is one of the biggest power robbing accessaries there are under the hood.

the AC unit is lighter than you think.... not even 10 lbs so you wouldn't even gain 1/10th of a second in the quarter.

A/C compressor, accumulator, condensor, and two main lines weigh a total of 24lbs. Maybe a 30lb total if you remove the whole system (all lines and the evaporator).

You have a PLASTIC intake manifold...it doesn't get that hot...

The stock manifold is plastic but it is also not very performance oriented. Therefore, With a new intake manifold (metal) I can achieve a little more torque, HP, and throttle response. Why would you put a larger throttle body and MAF sensor on if you going to leave on the [censored] intake. I mean think about it, thats like putting a turbo kit on a stock engine. Try expanding the inside of a plastic intake. Just common sence, you know. Thanks for your 2 cents!

Focus Central has an aftermarket metal intake (works with a 70mm TB)....BUT it is $699 or $799...I can't remember which.

$700??? It would cost less than $50 for the materials.
Damn I'm happy I can make it myself. If I like the results enough maybe I'll post a group buy for'em.

That manifold would take massive firewall fabrication to fit. I can make one that would fit and still flow better.
