it was the battery
I have a sears model I replaced it with an interstate model for 110 and .5 hr labor for 161 this morning because I had to move the car, after AAA gave me a boost, which was parked on the wrong side of the street (alternate side of the street parking here in NYC).
My sears batteries usually last 2years. It will be intereesting to find out how many years this interstate battery will last.

the interstate battery website www.ibs.com recommended Part# MT-47 (Mega-Tron - 60 Months - 590 CCA) Remood clearanceve interior padding of heat shield to fit group 47 or 58r. Watch h LIST PRICE $95.95 SUGGESTED PRICE $79.95 yet the model installed in my car was exb41-60. yes still a 41 series but not a model listed at the ibs website.

I just replaced my Walmart battery that I bought in April 2001 for $42 as well. There's a 24 month warrenty, but I am over the warrenty by a few months.
So I bought a new Interstate battery like you did, model MT-47 and 60 month warranty. But I bought it for the same price that the shop pays for it. I paid $58 + tax. Cheap! I get good deals. And they say it's not who you know? Wrong, it's all who ya know. I am still going to return the Walmart battery and pay the prorated price to replace my bad battery and have 1 in stock, you never know when you'll need one (the one that's bad isn't charging).
This new battery is smaller then the Walmart battery so I have to pay a visit to the junk yard to get the battery holders. They fell out one time and my friend never put them back in. I think I seen on here someone who sells them, painted, I will search and see who it is.
