Take off you shift knob. Pull the shift boot up. The plastic ring should come along for the ride. Cut the zip tie that holds the plastic shaft thingy to the boot. Take said plastic shaft thingy off. Run another zip tie through the shift boot to get it snug around the shifter. Push plastic ring back in place. You're done.

for stock shifter, there are 2 ways you can do it. easiest way is to pull up the shift boot, and remove the torx screw at the right rear corner of the shift tower, the one going thru the slanted piece. remove the slanted piece, and put the screw back in, done.

Other way is to remove the sleeve over the shift lever, a little more complicated, but will give your shifter a different look. To remove this, unscrew the shifter knob, cut the cable tie holding the top of the boot in place, pull up on the sleeve, replace cable tie, done.

Apparently we were posting at the same time! I didn't even think about the slanted piece.

found in 2 minutes by searching for "remove AND reverse AND lockout"
http://www.contour.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=genmods&Number=38726&Forum=All_Forums&Words=remove%20reverse%20lockout&Match=And&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Old=1year&Main=38633&Search=true#Post38726

I swear, you people that "don't have time to search" kill me. So you do have time to wait for someone to post? In this case it was 7 minutes. In the time you waited for a response you could have searched and found your answer and probably been well on your way to removing the reverse lockout.

Seriously, this really baffles me. It isn't (for me at least) a search nazi thing, it's more of a laziness thing. All this information out there and yet people are too stinking lazy to go get it. Is momma still spoon feeding the meals? The best is when someone asks to have the info emailed back to them.

BTW, removing a torx bolt that holds the shifter assembly would facilitate removal of the block that affects the reverse lockout feature.
