I just got my car realigned and when they had the car up on the ramp I had asked them to go ahead and check my motor nd tranny mounts. They showed me 4 of them and they looked pretty bad. My next question is where can I get a upgrade version of the OEM mounts if thier is any and how hard is it to change them all out?

The rear one (sometimes called right side of engine) is hard I saw the mechanic struggle with it for quite some time even though he had good access to it with the car on a high hoist.

You need a jack with a block of wood to brace the transmission and engine when changing the mounts. I would change one at a time of course.

Rear one is hard due to having tight access. The one on the right (near coolant recovery bottle) is easy. The one on the left (above driver fender) is pretty easy too. The one on the front (below the radiator dosn't seem too hard either.

This is all for a 2.0 liter auto

Manual or 2.5L can be different.

I've changed the right one (near the timing belt cover)
and the frt and rr roll restrictors, these are easy.
I had to put together a 2 feet extension for my 1/2" wrench
to access the front one.

I don't know about good aftermarket mounts. Some people
(Phil = unisys12) experimented with filling the worn ones
with urethane.

The oem mounts are pretty pricey from Ford, the cheapest
source is www.fordpartsonline.com as far as I know.
Maybe when Bill Jenkins' new site will be up, you can get
them cheaper.

There was a good find recently in the Troubleshooting forum,
www.rockauto.com sells the rubber inserts for some of the
mounts at a good price. You have to find them as Mercury
parts as for some reason they don't list them for Ford.

Make sure you get the ford mounts and not aftermarket ones. My aftermarket one tore after 2 days!! The one in the rear tore. Other are ok so far but I think the aftermarket ones are inferior to the ford ones.

The aftermarket one that ripped was made by AUP Automotive Undercar Parts (made in korea I think). Other aftermarket ones might be ok.
