ok so today im cruizin along and my radio goes off i was ok with that b/c it does that sometimes but what worried me was that when i was fiddling with it to get it to come back on i got to 5.5k rpms and i started to hear a sizzle sizzle or crackle crackle of sorts... anyone else have this goin on? its not constant just around 5.5k rpms...... any ideas?

its not that kinda sizzle... its hard to explain... kinda sounds like somethings hopping around with the piston...

Is the noise like an old hard drive searching for info? Like a wind in the wires kind of noise?
Do you only get the noise while driving?
If so it could well be the throttle/cruise control cable/s vibrating. (Yeah wild sounding eh?!) Check that both cables are supported on their little black clip "thingys" (tec. jargon you know!)
I had this trouble for a while, local FORD tec. suggested re-routing the cables, and even attatching a cloth to the cables individually to see which one is causing the noise.

thank you, i really think its more of a hopping sound.. like a piece of metal got chiped off and is hopping around?

dude i hope you didnt slip a piston ring out of place. i did that on the tour and it took a week and a half to fix
