While replacing a chewed up end link bushing in the right rear of a 1999 SVT, I noticed the sway bar was loose in its bushing on that side. Upon inspection, the weld at the top front of the sway bar mount broke free allowing the front slot/tab part of the mount to bend down which loosens the sway bar. The forum archives have numerous postings on this problem and how to fix it, but most of the people had larger rear bars. Mine is stock. Nothing was really said how to fix the problem using the stock bar with stock fittings, everything was about modifying/strengthening the mount. I run SCCA STS class and want to keep the option of running G Stock, so remaining legal is a prime consideration. I'm sure modifying the mount is illegal for G Stock, not sure about STS but I assume that is also illegal. So.........is there some way to replace/legally repair just the mount, or does the sub-frame have to be replaced? I couldn't really see how it all fits together.
