FIRST TIME EVER!!!! Turbo Tom sells a 20% stronger block, that alone is enough reason to use the zetec over the duratec if you want huge power on a sort of limited ($25k ) budget.

dont you all remember the guy who does complete Cossie drive train swaps into mondeos? well a close to stock Escort Cossie will run about a 12.5 in the 1/4. you ca have cossie motors up to about 500hp reasonably. so ship your car to england and back pluss the transformation would be about 15K and then the power upgrade another 3K and you would have a car that would prob go tens.
think about it- a 500 hp. AWD turbo Cossie Contour. Life doesnt get much better than that!

the JATO pack is the best idea posted yet, and probably the cheapest. you could probably find one of those for kinda cheap from military surplus, then use the rest of the money for an ejection seat. IIRC there was ONCE a guy who strapped one of these to his car and ended up smashed on a cliff, high above the ground. . . making ejection most definitly a must if you want to live to tell about your fastest contour ever, and it would be the fastest contour ever. . . . . wwweeeeeeee!!!!

Screw the SS. Get an 03 Cobra for cheaper. Can easily find a brand new 03 Cobra for under $30K. Then for under $3K, you will have a 450+ RWHP car.

There was never any proof of that story ever happening, it's said to be completely fiction. And the version I heard, the guy was suicidal anyways and had planned on dying because the militray was going to tortue him and then kill him. Also, just an FYI, cars can't fly.
However, if you do try the JATO pack, let us all know, we'd like to be there to witness it, I'll bring the popcorn and beer!!!!

I wouldnt doubt for a second that my SVT wouldnt lift of the ground if I lighted off a JATO strapped to the roof. Well, even if it didnt or cant happen, it would still be the fasted contour ever, and it would be even better that it stayed on the ground. . . . cars are much safer on the ground. . . Still, it would be fast as he!!.
