Just out of curiocity...if you were given $25000 and a stock tour, svt or se or whatever, could you make it hit an 11 second quarter mile? what would you do to it? etc etc. just curious...

Sure take 24.400 and put in the bank. Spend 600 on a N.O.S big shot. like a 250-300. Spray it once, and there you go. Seriously, hmm Forged internals, PNP heads, UIM, LIM, custom cams, and choose your choice of FI (Turbo, N20, Vortech). You would need upper 300 to 400 hp. Plus the best suspension money could buy to put it all to the ground. AHHHHHHHH If it were only that simple. lol

3L with forged rods/pistons/crank, and say 30 psi turbo (might need a forged block too)
and the best tranny terry can build, and a custom suspension to ahndle it

Definitely use a zetec. The aftermarket is so much bigger for it that you'd have a lot easier time and spend less money. If you just need it to run it one time. I'm sure you could get 700hp outta a turbo zetec (completely built) on racing gas. Meguair's focus puts down over 850 fwhp and runs 8 sec 1/4 miles.

96 ATX Zetec (i brake to watch you swerve)
FS: SVT rear sway bar
WTB: Very cheap beater

I'd make it all pretty and leave the SVT engine completely stock that way it looks like an 11 sec car and people will leave me alone.

I'll have to agree with Kermit here, buy a MTX Zetec for $2500 and spend $4k on a low compression, forged internal, ported head, race cam engine...then drop another $4k on a t3/t4 turbo kit, another $4k for Terry to build a tranny. Gut the interior, upgrade the axles, and put slicks on it.
Then again, no one in their right mind would spend this kind of money on a contour .
Kinda funny, I could have my tbird in the 11's for about $3k, oh to have a well paying job ...
