if you are going to spend 240 bucks on a radar detector, you might as well by a V1, or a valentine 1 as more people know it. it is the best radar detector you can buy. . . it has won radar shootouts every year the past couple of years. let me say, if you buy it, you will never be dissappointed. it is the baddest detector you can buy. the best, hands down. it may cost a little more than others, but you will NEVER regret it. i would bet you that. try it, you'll see. i am saving up for my own. we bought my dad one, i want to steal it, but he watches it like a hawk, so i will have to buy my own. it is the only detector i will ever buy. . . .EVER. it has proven itself to us, and we have owned many other detectors. it is the only detector we will ever buy untill something proves itself better, which wont happen for a while. . . .

So you're saying the V1s are junk, right?

dont blame bestbuy guys, you are the ones that failed to do your hw before you bought it. Only go with the big black box (Valentine One) or get the escort passport 8500. Dont get any of that wireless crap either...Think about your remote and batteries, once you use it to much the batteries die right? well you dont want your batteries to be dead when you need it to tell you if the cop is shooting radar!

That combined with the buttons on the stearing wheel have saved me from many a speeding ticket!

www.radartest.com, looks like the Passport 8500 out scores the V1. My dad has a V1, an excellent radar detector no doubt, but it does have it downsides. For one, IT'S HUGE! Second, the KA band and Laser functions are good, but not as good as the 8500 and that's where the future of radar is. Hopefully in the next couple of months I'll have the money for one, but for now, OLD A$$ Escort will just have to do. Just my $.02

radartest.com is a scam. Try this one:

From my readings, it looks like radartest.com is the only place un-biased by any factors. They don't receive free andything from any company (Car and Driver really like V1, they also receive free things from the good people at Valentine) I found some really good information on that site and it seems like they know what they are doing.
My $.02

That is absolutly false. C&D does not recieve ANYTHING free, all detectors used in their tests are purchased by them. In regards to Craig Peterson's site, read through this.

Where'd you get this from? Their first ever test, they had a detector company send them a cheapo detector that had the guts replaced by a much better one so their brand would score better. After that, they buy each detector direct from the retail store and test it.

Fact is- V1 has the longest range of any detector

V1 is the ONLY one with the directional locator

V1 is the ONLY detector with TRUE 360 degree protection as its the ONLY detector that actually has a receiver on the front side of it to detect from the rear.

You just can't beat Mikey! (That's what I named mine)
