My speedometer and odometer stopped working on the freeway! I was going about 80-85 and all of the sudden the needle dropped! I tried restarting, no luck! I then realized that the odometer wasn't turning either! What the hell do i do?

drive around with no odometer and keeo the miles low for a while. if you get pulled over for speeding tell the officer that it just happened and you were on the way home or to the garage to have it looked at.

When I had my Contour I had to have a speedo problem fixed under warranty.
The speedo, tach would cut off after I hit a big bump and come back on after another.
I will check to see what the write up says later.

Only the 95s had mechanical drive speedo cables, so this is an electrical problem of some sort. (Fuse, connector, etc...)

Change the O2's yourself! It's easy. Well except for the upper rear one. Let them tell you which needs to be replaced and do it yourself. I'll bet it's not the O2's and it's an EGR code though so at least you'll have a wattanty on the O2's.

That happened to my 'tour with about 20k miles on it. On my way back from cali to nm about 100 miles out my cruise control cut out, speedo and odo stopped working. They had to replace the speed sensor...luckily mine was still under warranty but it took the bastages 5 days to do it while I sat burning up vacation time I didn't have. Oh man bringing back bad bad memories of the first 2 years I owned my car.
