The Contour is going back to Ford tonight. But to FYI everyone;
I had the engine bay wiring replaced under Ford's extended warranty (Radiator fan & engine bay wiring). It took them a month to do (Gave me a loaner, nice fully loaded Taurus.) There were problems with the car running at higher RPM's after the switch. They replaced a chip and something else (I forget) and then car ran fine they said.
I took it home and for a week it's been great. Then, last night the radio cuts out for a second while I'm on the freeway. Does it again 5 seconds later and I look at the gauges and they are all moving down like the power to them got cut off for a second. Then, everything back to normal for a bit until the CEL goes on. Car never quit running or even stutter, and still runs fantastic, just the CEL keeps flashing on and off in 3 or 4 minute intervals.
Anyone have the wiring replaced and problems?? I'm not sure what it could be, but it's not mechanical, an electrical component must have failed.....
