I have the DEH-4100 and love it. My fiac'ee especially like the little remote that comes with it. I paid $217 for mine. So if you can get one for $187, at that price, I would definitly not pass that up. [This message has been edited by Chris Rush (edited June 19, 2000).]

i usually stay with alpine, but ordered the 9200 pioneer for my brother, and a 6200 for a friend and could not believe how much control and sound quality was in the new pioneers. even the lower models like the 4100 are excellent. go to www.sbhcorp.com and get it though..i looked it up and its $174.95 there...you might even wanna move up a model or two..the 5200 is $194.00 and the 6200 is 219.00. they have the speakers as well but youll have to call and give them the part number to get the price for those. hope this helps

I have 4 Pioneer TS-A6855's on order from Crutchfield. I have received 2 of them, but the other two are on backorder. I haven't put them in yet, but they should work well. I wanted a set of TS-A6865's, but the website said they didn't recommend using them in a Mystique. I say go for the TS-A6865's along with the other items you are considering. They will make a very good system.

Read my reply in another thread. The plate-based TS-P682s are superior to the coaxial Pioneers. Of course, if you like you music loud and with solid bass, stick with the 6855/6865s. However, the 682s are much better in the neutrality department and the vocals are far more engaging. Treble is better defined and smooth as well.
I got a Blaupunkt head unit because I wanted to maintain a Euro sedan image.

I agree about the Speakers and what to go with in terms of bass or vocals... At the moment pretty much anything I listen to has very litttle or no vocals (house/trance/breakbeat/etc...) so I'm looking to pick up the lows and highs. I have 2 Alpine Amps (300 and 200 watt I think... I have had them for over a year) and a dual 10" JL Audio Powerwedge... So I think I'll have a decent system.
Thanks for the Web page Matt - they're price on the head units are about $20 less but the speakers are hiked up - so maybe I'll use both.
Thanks for all your help guys! When I want my 4' LCD display and PlayStation 2 hooked up, I'll be sure to ask. >=D

I'm installing the Pioneer 8200. It's worth the extra money to get the 4.8v preouts for front, rear, and sub.
The sound quality is Excellent!

I've got the Pioneer DEH-P8000 and 6815's all around, with a Pioneer 12" sealed sub in the trunk, 200 watts powering that. Insane, and relatively cheap (under $1000 including installation, thanks to the net prices).
If you're looking to save some cash, leave the rear speakers alone, only your rear seat passengers will really notice the difference. Wish I'd done that and saved the money, but I'm still really happy with everything.

Anyway, I hate to be the person to stray from the norm but I am relatively happy with my Clarion 7575z and Infinity Kappa's in the doors. I have an Alumapro Alchemy 10 (VERY NICE) being powered with 500 watts of good ol' american power. Next upgrade is my second ESX amp for the Kappa's and down the road if I keep my car at school next year some Kappa Perfect 6.5" comps. Those will sound mighty nice crossed at 80hz with my sub low passed at 80 hz as well. ------------------ David Litsky 96 Contour GL Clarion, Infinity, ESX, Alumapro

I have an older model JVC KD-LX1. I would prefer at least the KD-LX30, but the one I have now is just as nice as any. It only has one preout but to that I have hooked up 2 Pioneer 10" in a bandpass to 2 Phoenix Gold 2180 amps (one for each, bridged about 300watts each). Also, I have a noname 400watt amp hooked up to my front 2 door speakers. It has about 1000watts total and kicks ***!!! The JVC deck is kinda expensive but easy to install by yourself and well worth it. ------------------ '96 Zetech Limo Tint Turbo, but not sure 1000Watt System
