The problem is this...the fumes that are given off...as far as I could tell did not emmit an odor....Now also guys temps under the hood are different. So maybe it was not bad to deform it, maybe it isnt even bad enuff to give off the fumes. The risk is there. The other thing to ponder...not shooting at anyone....but lets say, for argument, that it did get warm enuff to cause the piping to give off fumes. What if those fumes carried some of that PVC into your TB and coated the intake and the TB with a fine powder or just looked like minor debris? Now, you may not have a problem....but....food for thought, it could... COULD happen.

YES removing the Black thing on the TB is a good idea as it is restrictive as well. The CTA motorsports intake does that.

Also, you can go to autozone and get a honda civic/acura integra intake and modify it to fit.

Cost $39.99 for intake tube, use the accordian tube, keep the bend on the intake tube and go get an ABS cleanout elbow...total for all including filter I think was $65...maybe...

No debris were on my TB. To me, it seems that if it releases fumes, it's over a long period of time and you'll probably be OK. A friend of mine told me he knows a guy with a turbo'd mustang that has partial PVC intake and hasn't had any trouble. But the CTA intake is better to go with just because it's smoother, and it's bigger helping to gain in mid/high rpms. Heat soak sucks though. If only street flight had made an intake for us.....

The point is to get rid of the accordian tube also for a smoother airflow.

You need to relocate the battery first. Then it shouldnt be too hard.

and the fuse box...then after that looks pretty straight forward. No cutting required, it just sits right there.

CTA intake with the "air filter relocation kit"

There is a much better place (almost the same spot) to relocate the filter and it doesn't require relocating the battery or fusebox.
Just need a small heat shield.

Speaking of relocating the battery, how hard is that? Wouldn't it involve a lot of manhandling of long heavy cables around the passenger compartment to the trunk? Sounds like a pain.

Man, running cables in our cars is so easy. I wouldn't call it manhandling. I'd think it'd be pretty easy to relocate the battery.
