I was thinking we ought to do one at the Boneville Salt Flats. They have casinos out there, strip joints, buffets, whatever floats your boat. It would kick ass!

Dallas Texas is fairly central to the whole US (National Meet). We even have a drag strip and Texas Motor Speedway! smile

I wouldn't mind fixing up something, and I'm sure the CFW CEG wouldn't mind hosting the National meet. Fall is good for me. Not too cold now.

Well, if we can actually decide if it's going to be in Dallas we would have to know when it would be. Finding either a dealer or business to host us would be great. Just need some time to plan if where ever it will be.

Or it could be just a parking lot where we all watch infuryum try to do donuts with the e-brake smile

Fly in. Bob Bondurant has a collection of CSVT's and Cobras. I know they offer "hot laps" I think they are called, but I wouldn't know what they would do for us as a group.

In Iowa coming up there is a meet. Not national but the details are in the General forum. Read up, it's a good location and it would be nice to do this!

How about Vegas laugh laugh laugh

That would be the perfect place well for the western states at least....

What we should do is pick a town that is dead smack in the middle of the US, and call it our tramping ground... Regardless of location.... How about Nebraska??? Somewhere.... South Dakota... Mount Rushmore?
laugh laugh I have no clue.... Although I would like to go back to Colorado.... sometime..

Thanks for the support Dan. We haven't had much of a response to our announcement yet. Maybe it's the traveling on Friday the 13th that's shying people away...

Pull a Tim? I don't get it, are you saying no gay bars or something? That brings back some frightning memories....

Favorite bar? Yeah, but then it went under new management and, um, "catered to the other lifestyle". I didn't realize this at the time, of course. So I went in there and was getting loaded up, and was feeling kinda perplexed by the large guy/girl ratio in the place. I guess they didn't like my shirt (I'll admit it didn't really match my outfit), 'cause before I knew it, they ripped it off and tried messing with me. The next couple of minutes were a blur.... Next thing I knew, 5 people are lying on the floor, and their blood is all over me (mostly on my hands/knuckles). Fortunately, I had some help, as T-red was there with me, and he helped me GTF outta there. I'm sure he'll jump in with the rest of the story sooner or later....

Well, I was trying to hook up with the only girl in the place (she was kinda chunky, but hey, fat girls need love too), and next thing I know, "It's Raining Men" starts playing. I hear Steve yelling at the top of his lungs to me, saying "Let's get the **** outta here!" Before I can get Bunny's phone number, I see a topless Steve throwing helicopter punches at like 4-5 guys. He was swinging like a windmill in Holland. Well, I guess he got dizzy swinging so hard, that he lost conciousness(sp). He statgered around and came too. I picked him up, and we bailed at top speed to the parking lot. We hid around the corner and waited about 45 minutes. His car got towed and I told him to hold on, I would go call for a Taxi. Well, Bunny and 2 of her friends were at the Jiffy store so I started talking to her. I kinda forgot about Steve, so I guess he called someone else for a ride.....Well, this is where the story gets real good.....

No, actually Steve called me for a ride. I was down at my mom's house, not too far from Frederick in Laurel, MD. Just finished eating dinner when the phone rings and it's Steve on the other end all incoherent and stuff. The only thing I could get out of him was the name of the bar, and the fact that he needed a ride home for some reason. Took me about 30 minutes to get up to Fredrick, I had the speedo pegged on my mighty Zetec for most of the way there.

As I was pulling up to the bar, Tim comes riding along in his Zetec (little known fact, Tim had a Zetec before his SVT) looking for love in all the wrong places. He sees Steve standing there shirtless and gets all excited and stuff. I hop out of the car and ask Steve what's up just as Tim is getting out of his car. Tim starts to get all hot and bothered by the site of Steve standing there shirtless, wearing his aviator sunglasses. I guess the smell of Drakkar mixed with the Pabst Blue Ribbon that Steve had been drinking that night was just too much for Tim.

About that same time, Bunny and Neil wander out of the Jiffy Store with a bottle of MD 20/20. Seems like they needed a little more to drink. Neil sees that Tim is making some unwanted advances on Steve and straight clobbers Tim over the head with the bottle. Tim is out cold. We all decide it's time to head home, so we drag him to the door stoop of the bar and leave him there.... What happened to Tim after that is anyone's guess......

TX is a bit for for us East Coasters... If you are talking racetracks, we have plenty of them around here! Atco - NJ, Englishtown - NJ, and MIR - MD. If you are talking the best bar? I vote for Seacrets in Ocean City, can we say SWEET! Nothing better than basking in the sun on a raft and have nice looking waitresses bring you beers. :p

I put my vote in for Dallas, too. We have (as most do, I guess) a pretty active local group that can do the planning and put together a great meet.

Wherever it is, someone's gonna ***** about the mileage.

Us CO guys could be in for heading down in altitude.. I would love to try running at less than one mile up in the -wheeze- air. Dallas seems cool. We should get Lance in on this, and maybe post to the general forum.

Count me in on this too. As ContourSVT said.....we have a pretty active group. Judging by most of the other branch sites i've seen, we have by far one of the larger and active groups. I don't see why those of you that live under 15hrs can't come. I am headed to Iowa for the 13th by myself....so no excuse to those of you who say you are too far. I've driven back and forth from Dallas to Wash,D.C. many times. It's not a bad drive at all. If anyone needs help gettin it together....let me know!!!!!

And I don't want to hear any complaining from you east-coast guys! There are us west-coast guys that cannot make it to spring-zing.

TEXAS! Plenty to do in the Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex, middle of the US (more or less) to satisfy both East and West coast guys...

Plus, if we schedule it right, maybe we can witness one of the Texas death row inmate executions!! woo hoo!

Texas would be a cool spot for a national meet but here's my vote for the second choice. http://www.tailofthedragon.com/

If anything it would make a good weekend trip for people on the east coast.

Dallas would be nice.

My mom lives in Ft Worth, so I could bring the family and leave them with her.

So, I vote for Dallas, TX in the fall, for fully selfish reasons laugh

Fall seems real soon... smile Anyway, if we want to have the meet in Dallas for the Fall, we all need to make a decision fast so the Dallas CEG Group can organize.

Who's the President of the group.... smile smile

Fall does seem a little quick. I was thinking along the lines of next year's spring zing.

What would we call the fall meet; Spring Zing 2001.5? smile

I think next spring would be plenty of time for planning on both sides. Attendees and organizers.

As much as I would love for everybody to come here in a few months, my vote is for next spring.

Why not a Fast Four-Door Ford Fall Frenzy F-5?

The first one doesn't need to be as elaborate as Spring Zing. It took a few years for Spring Zing to become what it is.

Just need to find a fun run area, maybe locate or set-up an Auto-X on that weekend. (Someone has to work somewhere that has an acceptable parking lot, right? Of course a hotel to base everything out of.

Think of it as a training exercise to train up more folks to put on an event like Spring Zing.

I can check with Bedford PD. They and the SCCA sponsor an Auto X every year. That is if ya'll want me too. I'm sure we can find an abandoned parking lot that the police and/or tenant wouldn't mind us playing in as long as we agree to leave it in better shape than before we got there....ie: mowing their grass and sweeping the parking lot(we would really need to do both anyway so that people can have a nice place to sit other than the pavement and so that the track area is free of debris. What do ya'll think? I can start lookin and checkin this weekend. I think I know of a few good places about an hour east of dallas....is that too far for ya'll? Let me know. If anyone has suggestions and/or comments, PLEASE email them to me. I can't get on here as much as I have been in the past few weeks. My mobile email address is 2148698634@messaging.nextel.com
