The official Spring Zing 2001 location has been decided and the paper work has been finalized!
SZ2001 is being held at the Clarion Hotel in Kalamazoo, Michigan April 27th, 28th, 29th 2001.
The cost per room is $59+tax per night. (with up to 4 people per room)
We have a block of 30 rooms available from Thursday, April 26th-Monday April 30th (For those hard-core attendees needing 5 full days of fun)!

SZ2001 Convention Fee
In order to cover the costs of giving you the best event possible in one weekend we are needing a $30 dollar convention fee to be prepaid for each person attending. This covers the costs of the Banquet Hall, Catering, the setup fee of the Cash bar, Grab bag items, Guest Speakers, etc...
This does not include the cost of the drag race event, the AutoX, or the Dyno Day. (Those events are "Pay-On-Spot" allowing those who do not wish to participate in those events avoid extra costs.)
We do recognize the fact that not everyone has the money to afford each and every event taking place during SZ2001 and thought long and hard on a way to try to cover the needs of each person attending and tried to keep the costs in a range that is affordable for the majority of people attending. After contacting and researching the costs on other weekend automotive conventions we found that most of them had convention fees ranging from $50-$300 (which were a flat rate regardless of the amount of events the attendees participated in) and there were a couple conventions that had a $50-75 fee for the banquet alone.
To give you a comparison of how much the SZ2001 Convention will cost you here are some price breakdowns:
The General Convention fee=$30
The Hotel fee per night=$59+tax
The Welcoming Day at Lane Automotive (with Ford Racing & Vibrant Performance reps on hand) =$0.00
The Friday Night at the Drag Strip= $15 to race or park in the pits with the group or $5 to watch.
The Dyno Day=$TBA, details are still in progress
The Spring Zing Cup AutoX=$20 for non-SCCA members $15 for SCCA members (Helmet required!)
(Fun Runs and other cruises are obviously free!)
Room costs can be split up between (Up to) 4 people sharing a room so here is a basic idea on how much it will cost if the hotel room cost is split up
4 People sharing a room for Friday & Saturday night and participating in both the drag strip event and the AutoX=$96 per person
2 People sharing a room for Friday & Saturday night and participating in both the drag strip event and the AutoX=$128 per person
1 Person paying room for Friday & Saturday night and participating in both the drag strip event and the AutoX=$190
One other point I'd like to make is that our SZ2001 Banquet will be TOP NOTCH. The banquet facilities at the Clarion are simply incredible, with elegant halls & outstanding decor. The food is also top notch, and of course we'll have everything to ourselves for the evening!
