I'm toying (more like planning) with the idea of getting Koni's and Ground Controls but worried that my rear tire would rub more on the fender with the drop. I'm still running on the stock suspension that is 8 yrs old; which makes me think that this is the cause of the rubbing problem that I am having now.
I tried rolling the fenders, it worked on the driver side but the passenger side still rubs when i have passengers or drive over big bumps.
Suspension needs to be replaced but I'm afraid to go with any aftermarket that will increase the rubbing and rip my tires into pieces. I'm not concerned with costs my parents are buying my the spring/struts for my car as a grad present, I want the best performance suspension available that will stop/reduce the rubbing. I could care less about looks and drop, handling is my main concern.
The plan was to get GCs and leave the rear at the highest drop(1") and the front dropped until the fender/wheel gap is closed (around 2"). No questions asked Koni's are the best struts available for my car, so its going to be Koni's and some kind of springs.
please state you opinion and help me decide with what type of setup to go with.

BTW the wheel offset is 40 and i shouldn't have a rubbing problem, but i've been hit on the right rear fender before and had it fixed so this can be another reason why only the passenger side rubs after rolling the fenders.

id go with konis and gc's. i have gc's and sh!tty struts and i love it, tho i wish i could have sprung for the konis.

with the gc's tho you can apparently bring the back end up higher then stock... i dont know bout your car but on mine when i lowered it i stayed near the same height on the back as thats how my car sat back there - really low... front - big difference, close to 3 inches down. no rubbing what-so-ever. tho my konigs may be +42 offset.

so you got 215-45-17 with 40 offset compared to my 215-40-18 with 40 offset and you don't rub with GCs. I'm almost 100% sure now that my old suspension and/or my old accident is the cause of the rubbing which can be fixed.
well the next trip to the city will be to get the Koni's and GCs ordered. BTW can anyone get a better deal than $1700CND installed; CTA Motorsport has them for 1700 without installation, tax, or shipping.

cta motorsports sells a euro handling kit with minimal drop
and good ride and handling characteristics. Better yet they're not even over priced...

I was considering the BAT kit, but I don't want to look back and say i wish i paid a little more and got the Koni's and GC's. Plus I'm getting $1500 to spend on suspension upgrade as a grad present, so might as well get the best setup out there. Maybe over priced but sometimes you have to pay a little extra for a better quality product.

I believe i fixed the rubbing last night, i had 2 passengers + my stereo and didn't rub at all. I used a 2x4 and a little sledge hammer to pound the fender out about 1/2 an inch.

Hey advocate does the quality of the ride change when you have passengers in the back seat? bouncy, stiff, riding too low, etc...

oh yea, then again its mostly the same... bouncy, very firm, all in all i wish i could have afforded the koni's at the time... in a year or two maybe tho.

i hear the bouncyness goes away with the koni's?...

i wanna c what its like when i go full height for winter, then the struts will be able to do their job as they will be closer to their range area.
