AutoX Info @ SECEG forum

I posted about this earlier in my regional CEG forum. Figured I'd also put a link here to let others know in case they missed it.

Season starts the 29th of June @ Metrozoo. AutoX Saturdays, Speedtrial Sundays as usual. Free to watch, come & see the fun!

Eric..are you going to be running? I would love to come and try it out, but what do I need to do for the "virgin" trip? I read that you need to attend a class at the conclusion of the day Saturday...but $40 for the class seems a little steep, plus I live so far away to get there at 7:00 am. I'll at least come and watch..

Alan

Good to hear from you again Alan.

Nah, the class is for Speedtrials on Sunday, you have to be allowed to participate on Sunday by attending class Saturday afternoon. But, it seems that there are no speedtrial events scheduled this summer... I'm assuming problems w/ Metrozoo on Sundays, who knows. They were fun to watch anyways, all the freaks w/ their 911's & Vipers & M3's taking laps... very cool. Saturday's not bad either tho, check the entry lists on their homepage to see who went last year. I think I'll be running, my dad's getting all into it, so I'll be charging him for my new tires & such to let him drive it

I'm sure there are a million people here who will tell you what you need to do to get ready for this & get great times. Me personally, i just do it to have fun & throw the car around & not get a ticket. The basics to have/do would be:

Get everything out of your car.
Check your fluids & brakes.
Put about 40lbs in the front & 36lbs in the rear tires the night before.
Bring something to drink (unless you want to spend mad $$).
Bring sunblock.
Bring whiteshoepolish / tape / sticker / anything to put your # & class designation on your car. You get whatever # you want unless its taken, classes are split up early in the morning. Everybody always forgets the shoepolish.

I'm usually too lazy to get there at 7. I arrive about 8:30-9ish and its cool, but you should have a # picked out before you get there & have your $30 in hand. You just won't be able to walk the track before we start, which will suck for you b/c your first runs will be sloppy until you memorize the track. Just have fun & don't worry about times just yet. Which car are you bringing?

Hi Alan,

I thought I would chime in and give you some good reading. It may be more than you care to digest at one sitting, but I would recommend at least printing it out and keeping it handy as a reference. You can check the index, and skip to whatever you think is relevant

Link to Solo II Novice Handbook

I wish you the best of luck and loads of fun.

Metrozoo is pretty far south Miami. 152nd Street & SW 120-something Avenue.

From Tampa, get to the Turnpike South somehow, get off at 152nd Street and make a right off the ramp. At the light, 117th Avenue, make another right. Keep going & watch for the big sign on your left.

Oh, I just saw your sig & thought you might bring the Jetta. See you there, I'll post again the week of the event. There's some good club interest for this event going on, supraforums.com, nasioc.com, sfzcc.com, so it hopefully will be a real nice event.

Yeah, I realized that after I posted. The Jetta is the wifes car, and while I "could" take it down there, the SVT would just be so much more fun.

Eric, why don't you PM me, I've got a chip for your car...if you're interested.
