Okay So-cal,
I have been chatting with a member, via pm's,on the board (Ronindice)about having a meet in mid to late July. Ronindice is also a member of the probe owners club and he will post the same message over on their board. I would like to get an interest rating of having a "BIG mod" day or a "Drive day" in the L.A. area. Maybe a little further north or south, Not sure on location yet. I would like to have about 20-30 cars come to make it really fun for all. If you are interested post your interest here.
Later,
Eric

Southern part of LA? when you talk about south and north of LA you are talking about 2 hours difference! It would be fun though...i need to get my grills done in time so me and dubs cars will look identical. except for the missing sunroof and fuched up headlights!

The Socal Probe owners club has many members stretching from san diego to bakersfield. I am sure we can do a meet in between perhaps more south than la area. Anaheim area or something like that would be good. If anyone has any suggestions let us know and reply to this post. The people in my club seem pretty excited to have a joint meet. As for when I was thinking july or august just so we have enough time to get it organized and make sure everyone is on the same page. We are also doing a angeles crest fun drive on the 31st of may. I however will not be there due to my place of employment sucking a**. I have been told that if any ceg'ers wish to attend to fill them in on the details so let me know if you think you can keeo up with us Mike Bandy

Anyone else care to give any input. I was definitely thinking a drive somewhere and maybe followed off with like a BBQ at the beach or something. My fellow probe owners seem to like thge idea as well. Both myself and Eric will work out the details as soon as possible. Any input is helpful as I want this to be enjoyable for everyone. Mike Bandy

I talked with 3 other contour owners at my BBQ and they are up for the trip. Some of the others here in San Diego don't post that often so we will need to wait for them to post.
We are starting to get some responce though which is good.
Later,
Eric

as long as the meet is after the svtoa event on the 12th and 13th, I'm more than willing to do a cruise. Ortega highway is perfect for me as I live in Mission Viejo (about 10 minutes from start of highway in San Juan Capistrano) and have been wanting to meet more people with contours that are enthusiastic about their cars.

I assume you mean the SoCal SVTOA at the Streets of Willow in July. Glad to see you are planning to attend. It should be really great!
We are having a cruise from Galpin Ford on the 7th of June to Peterson's Automotive Museum for Cobra Day. It is $25.00 to get in to Peterson's, and that includes lunch. It is Carroll Shelby's birthday, and there will be lots of vintage Cobras, and Carroll himself, at the event. We will be meeting at 8am at Galpin Ford.

I hope you knw that as my Father you are obligated to go to this joint meet I am planning. It is your fatherly responsibility .
Ok so for everyone who is planning on showing up to this thing. I am thinking sometime in July. The dates I was thinking of were the 19th, or the 26th. If that doesn't work we can push it into August. Everyone who is planning on participating in this event please vote on a date. lets try to make it all mostly unanimous so put whether or not you are available for all or 2 or just one of those dates. Thanks and it is awesome to see so many people interested in this meet.

Jim, I would love to do the event on the 7th but there is no way in hell I could get that day off work. That would be an awesome event. As far as Willow Springs is concerned, as soon as I get another set of rims for my car with race rubber and a hotel room, I'm there.

Mike,
How about a cruise through Mulholland or Angeles Crest? Those are two roads that have always sounded like fun and they're really not out of the way for me. I can even meet up in Studio City or someplace nearby and we can caravan from there.

As good as that sounds the CEG as well as the SoCal probe owners club have many members in the more southern part of SoCal hence ortega highway being in between. Also we are having a run in the probe owners club up angeles crest tomorrow. Mulholland would be fun though. Mike Bandy

Jim,
I just found out that I have June 7th off so I am going to come up to Galpin and do that event. I've been wanting to go to a meeting for SVTOA for some time but can never get the time off. That might make a good combined event for both SVTOA and CEG if anybody is interested in meeting in the San Fernando Valley.

So what does everyone think about the 27th of july. That gives use one extra week over the 19 or 20th and it puts the date on a sunday. That way we have less conflicting day ( 27th being a sunday ) for poeple trying to get off work. I have the number of some guys that I met at Knotts berry farm and I will try to give them a call and see if they want to come also. They have a few contours and a sho. It is starting to look good. Remember if you say your gonna go no backing out at the last minute ( Path914 ) .

The closest place I can think of is the Denny's on Ortega Highway in San Juan Capistrano. It is a well known and recognizable spot and is closest to the beginning of the highway.

Hey Mike,
If you know the area anytime is really good. Is there a time where there is less trafic in that area? Mid morning or mid afternoon? Some time where we could stay toughter as a group?

on a sunday, traffic is up in the air, I doubt there is an "ideal time" Probably the earlest the better, + the earler we meet the longer we can drive in the nice sun. + we will have enought time to have a barbeque. And keep in mind if we agree on 9am. Then everyone will prob. show up my noon.

I think that as it will be a sunday and people like myself are coming from the north we should make the meeting time anywhere from 10am to 11am. That way we should have enough people there by 11-11:30am . That should give us enough time for the breakfast if we want it (for those who get there early) and for the drive and for the BBQ. So in that case if you want to have breakfast show up at 10am. If not don't show up later than 11am. Mike Bandy

Vote me in for the 28th. I just did a cruise with my mustang club through ortega and our cars will love. I had no problems keeping up with the mustangs in the turns. It will be nice not to have to sweat it keeping up with most of the rest of the probes and contours in the straights (I know that Jim's SVT will have a little bit on us in the power department.)

Another new guy here, and I'll be there on the 27th. Nobody's allowed to look at the back of my car though. I just drove across the country in my SVT a month and a half ago - with a 1000lb+ flatbed trailer, in 4 days. I've got pictures, but they're on someone else's computer over in Redondo right now. Anyway, the car pulled great except in Texas, where the constant gradual uphill and 50mph headwinds made for a top speed of 60mph and about 11 miles per gallon. Sidewinds and semis didn't bother us a bit, and the trailer never so much as waggled. Who'da thunk it? I sure need some new shocks though. My girl and I just discovered Angeles Crest today - 20 minutes from our apartment. what a road. Anyone need a barely-used trailer and hitch? Only 3000 miles on 'em! christopher

I talked with my buddy jason and he rode on Ortega highway like a week ago and said that it had mad crazy curves and looked fun as hell. He was in his work KIA and it kinda scared him with all the cliffs next to the road. If you considered wether or not to go, this is gonna be one hell of a good time.
Later, Eric

Alright guys. Mike has reserved our spot to hang out and BBQ. It will be $10 a car to park in the area where we will be BBQing at. Not all cars are required to park in this area. Not real clear on the details but I am sure that there is parking out side the "park" area where we will be BBQing at that is free.
This is getting better everyday.
Lets try to get a list of who is going.

first of all ...my best wishes to your family and g'ma path914...im not fortunate enough to have any grandparents remaining
as for the meet looks like im not making it....got the tensioner and dmd installed but now i have a check engine light intermittently and big power loss...mechanic diagnosed as most likely a miss...said though in his experience it doesn't sound or act like a car throwing a rod....
i bought some cheepo wires and plugs just to see if that'll improve the performance and then i'll go from there
