OK peeps. (and no, Karen, not the marshmallow ones):D
the weekend of the 17th and 18th is looking good. but heres the kicker... there will be no band, Mike and crew cannot do that weekend. they have too many weddings around that time, so the big bash will be put off until he can get an open weekend.
but, i am still willing to let y'all come and hang, mod, eat, drink, and play.
so come one, come all, and play with my baw... uhh..nevermind!

Hopefully (fingers crossed) I will have the Brullen by then and could use this as an opportunity to install it. If this is the case, if anyone going is interested in my SVT exhaust, I could be persuaded to give it up. I need to charge some money for it because the aftermarket resonator is only 6 months old.

Too bad the meet isn't today. I detailed the car yesterday and all nice and purdy right now. That should last until about Thursday when it starts raining again. If I get wires and plugs, can someone help me change 'em that weekend? Or at least tell me what not to do...

Doug, I got a brand new set of Bosch premium wires that have never been installed I could give you for real cheap. I bought Bosch wires when I originally bought the car. When i got the Ford racing wires I went back to the store and exchanged the old boches for the new ones in case I ever needed a fresh set (highly unlikely!!), Let me know.
Karen, the trim looks really cool, I'm very happy I changed the color!

I have yellow ford motorsports wires with chrome dividers i'll sell them for around 1/2 price.I used them for about 2 months and my new cai came in red only so i bought red wires to color match.i can bring them to the meet, they are for the v6.
plugs are easy to change i'll bring some tools and plug gapper.really only need to remove the ignition coil for the rears.I changed mine in about 1/2hr.

Hmmm.Maybe not(I'd love to see it)but it makes it easier with the coil out of the way.It takes less than 10min to take it out and it gives full acess to the rear. Ed kill me.WOW that's strong wording....We all have our own way of getting the same job done.

the plugs can be changed without removing the coil pack, but it is alot easier if you do remove it, or just take the bolts out and move it aside.

Funny Shiot!!!!! Doug is just f'in around. The coil would make it much easier to get to the #3 Cylinder. But even with my gorilla hands, I had no problem getting it done with it on there.
Like you said... Everyone has there way of doing things. As long as it gets done correct, that is all that counts.
Man would it be easy to change the plugs with the UIM off!!!! I did my plugs two weeks ago and Elky and I just did my intake cleaning and the plugs are right there and would take about 5 minutes to change!!!!

Just a general question to everyone- what time is everyone planning on arriving on Saturday? We just found out that we have a Confirmation to go to on Saturday at 10am...but, we're trying to work something out so that we can do both. I know that Steve had asked JSmith for some help with our DMD install...so, we don't want to inconvenience anyone. Can't wait to see ya'll again! I'm SO excited!

you could probably do the DMD on Sunday so you don't have to worry about rushing the confirmation? honestly though Jay is such a brilliant DMD install wizard, it takes no time at all for him to whip it up.

with help. I remember there were a few others helping me. I'd help them take the tire off and while I was taking the access panel off they'd be taking the accessory belt off and when I was done't they'd put the belt back on. We had some good team work going.
I'm not sure what day I'll be comming up. I requested a vacation day for that friday so hopefully it will be approved, if not, cough, cough, sick day. This way I can hang out at home friday getting ready and show up saturday morning sometime, or I could drive up friday, but if I do go friday I'd like to get there in the early afternoon to avoid rush-hour traffic.
The only problem is that if I do spend the weekend, I'll need a place to stay.

I might head up friday night, have to see how the end of next week goes
since we are talking about doing work on cars if I bring fluid for my trans would we be able to change it?
Also, Jay what do you think about changing the fluid in a car with 116k, should I even bother for the health of the trans, since it is pretty much fine except in cold weather. and what type of fluid do you suggest? i followed the Redline MTL thread before but never got an answer if it was good in high milage applications

I like the tag but I'm going to pass on it since my technical knowledge of the car is less than that of others here on the site.

By all means change the fluid. Changing the oil will carry away all the metallic particulates that have been building up and going into suspension with the oil. Not to mention the degredation of the oil's properties as a lubricant.
If you want to change the oil, but are reluctant to use a synthetic lubricant plus friction modifier because of the possibility of accelerating snchro wear then my suggestion is to drain the existing oil and re-fill with the same lubricant. Check the owner's manual to see what's recommended, I believe it is Mercron-DexronIII ATF. This way you are using the same lubricant that is currently in the car its just that what you put in will be nice and clean.

I'm doing alright. My main goal this summer is to pay off the SVT. Then we'll owe nothing on all 4 cars and the bike. I did have the mod bug this winter, though it was for the bike. It looks, sounds, feels, and rides a little different then last year. Here are some pics. What I did was the tail light, rear sigs, side mount tag with white LED light bar, smaller rear sprocket, punched out the baffles in the pipes, and a new Mustang seat (not shown). I plan on doing lowering shocks, front sigs, chrome frame cover, forward controls, intake, drag pipes and rejet, and repaint the tank either all black or with angle's breath, oh and mirrors.

I'm torn.
Here's my plans, as long as they are cool with the man, Elky.
plan 1. Leave home friday at around 12 - 1pm to arive at Elky's between 2 and 3 in order to arrive ahead of the friday afternoon rush. I know Elky was talking about cleaning his intake manifolds friday. Maybe this would be a good chance for me to whitness this to gain some knowledge. Then there was talk from Ed about going out and having a few afterwards. Sounds interesting.
plan 2 stay home friday to clean the car and do other stuff and leave aound 8 or 9 satruday monring to arrive at Elky's at 10 or 11.
Help sway my opinion one way or another.

I honestly would know which way to go
gaining experience on the intake cleaning would be good, but then again so might a clean car.
how about you go friday and watch the intake cleaning. then get up sat morning and clean the car. seems to cover both ends and has both options covered.
I still don't know when I am going to head up. it I can see Matrix Reloaded thursday night when it comes out I will see it friday night and be up sat morning. if not I might still head up friday night

knowing the weather and the what happened last year, that is very true. last year on the way up it started to snow on us. but the next day was great.
When I came up the other week it was raining and snowed over night
but I am hoping for the best weather wise this time

Yah- last year, the meet was the same weekend and it snowed on Saturday (I remember cause I took pictures and was flipping out because it was the weekend before our wedding!). I knew it wasn't going to accumulate, but it's just the fact that it was snowing!!!
Yuck- let's hope for better weather this year!

Don't forget to stop at a couple of strip joints, a couple of biker bars and a couple of crack houses on the way to Mike's.

I'm not sure now if I'll drive up for firday in the early afternoon. I just realized that firday would be a prime time for me to get my jet ski out of hibernation.
Depending on how easy it goes I may be done fairly quickly.
If I were to show up on friday afternoon, what would the activities likely be? I remember Elky saying he might do some yard work. If thats whats happening I'd be glad to help. I worked for almost 5 years as a landscaper and still do on a part time basis as of now.
other stuff:
I remember reading that some people were planning to do some MAF cleaning, unless you have a cleaner of your own that you like to use I can smuggle a can of elecronics cleaner from work. Any other consumables? Lint free rags, selants, special purpose lubricants, scotch brite pads, cleaning brushes whada ya want. Leme know what you want and I'll see if I can get it complements of the Cog. I have a few cans of AMS OIL Power Foam, a decarbonizer that quickly dissolves the crusty crap that grows in the intake, I'll bring one along too.
Steve: For your DMD install, do you have a new bolt and washer? Would you also like to change the front crankshaft seal while we're at it? If you don't have one of them let me know, the local dealer here has had them in stock every time I've gone to get one. They're about $6.

jay, i did most of the yardwork yesterday, and will be finishing it up today. so if you want to get the jet ski un-winterized, go right ahead.
if you could grab more of those lint free rags, that would be great

However, if you're coming from Western MA, it's alot faster to go Pike to 290. Follow 290 all the way to the end to 495N, and then take 495 N to 93N.
It takes you through Worcester, but it's faster.

I had a change of plans today and I got the jet ski going today instead. I left un-treated gas in it all winter so I was nervous I'd have the daunting task of removing the exhasut system to gain access to take the carbs off for cleaning. Ski Doo tech manual estimates that job at 12 hours with 8 hours for access.
Lukily there was no problem with stale gas. The only problem was a dead battery. A day on the battery charger fixed that. It fired up after just 5 seconds of cranking after sitting for over 6 months.
Now all I have to do is wait till the resivor or the near by river warms up a little to take it out for its first ride of the season.
Looks like friday will be a day for a very much needed car cleaning. Its been months since the last time I gave it a cleaning.
I'll see what I can do for the lint free rags. I'll try to get the same kind as last time. Dupont Sontara wipes. If not them then I'll bring some clean room certified lint free wipes, these are actually made by a comapny based somewhere in MA.

I believe that Elky has one, since it was his that we were using when we did the installs. I also have a puller.
He also has the long bolt that is used to pull the DMD onto the crankshaft, while the bolt I have is a home made one that is 2 old DMD bolts welded together.

Directions are listed in this thread. Just scroll on through for specifics.
The general directions are:
29OE to 495N to 93N
Get off at River Road (I'm almost positive that it's the first exit after 495).
Take a right at the end of the ramp.
He lives on River Road. I forget which number though.

Speaking of which- did you see Horsepower TV on Saturday around 11:30am? They had an Elky (and they even called it that!) and a 2003 Lightning on the same show. They were re-doing the Elky as an SS. It was pretty sweet! Had to laugh that there was an El Camino and an SVT on the same show, though!

I am actually thinking about doing my crank seal while you are at Mike's and we have all the tools. The leak is driving me crazy and I would like to just fix the damn thing. Would you mind offering you assistance?????
If I just ask for a bolt and washer at the dealer for the crank pulley, they would give me the correct items???? You don't need a special bolt do you???????

If I just ask for a bolt and washer at the dealer for the crank pulley, they would give me the correct items???? You don't need a special bolt do you???????
I thought you already had this done by the dealer shortly after you noticed the leak!
No, I went and ordered the bolt and washer and it never came in, so I just forgot about it with the long winter and all. Now I have started to notice the leak again and it is bugging me. It doesn't leak much, but it is enough to leave a couple of drops in the parking lot after I turn off the car. Plus the the oil gets all over everything and makes diagnosing leaks troublesome.
Anybody have info on the bolt I need???? I think I just ordered the stock bolt before.

give them the actual Ford part numbers, then there is no confusion.
Crankshaft pulley bolt F5RZ-6A340-B (about $6)
Crankshaft seal F5AZ-6700-A (about $9)
crankshaft pulley washer F5RZ-6378-A (about $4)
Yes, the bolts and washers are special. I'd be reluctant to use anything other than Ford OEM parts for the application.
Steve, I just picked up your seal today. It was $9.

Wowie! You're going to be a busy man... I think we're planning on going on Saturday- not 100% sure yet, though. Like we said before, we've got our nephew's Confirmation that morning. We'll see...we will obviously be deciding soon, though! Can't wait to see all of you! It's been a while!

Me can't make it.... This sucks. But, Lisa and I have been planning a surprise 25th anniversary party for her parents for a few months now and it happens to be on the 18th....With us going with the parents to visit some family for a dinner (make believe 25th dinner) on saturday night and I have to be there... I will try however, to make it to the next Roadhouse gettogether.....even though there is one about 5 minutes from house...I don't mind taking a drive up north (unless of course, you guys want to travel south lol...) but I digress. C'ya - have a great time everyone...

well at the moment I am thinking of heading up friday some time. weather calls for skattered showers friday and am rain. it seems Andover is rain free this weekend. I will have to see, I really want to drive my car but am not sure if I should. My travel will pan out depending on the rain, i want to avoid it because every time I head that way it has to rain or snow

I know...it was a while ago now, right?! Yikes...and we STILL don't have our pics up yet because now that we've moved, they can't seem to get the Comcast running at our new house. Grrrr! As soon as it's up and running, we've got a bunch of pics to post! Hopefully, it will be all set up and running by tomorrow (or so they say- of course, they said that it would be all set yesterday).
