Does anybody know the fuse to pull, if there is one, to disconnect the ABS? I take my car to the track every now and then, and had the ABS kick in a few times, and that wasn't too cool. Thanks for your help!!!

I believe other essential items are hooked into the ABS fuse. Leave it in. It's actually good to engage it and good that you get used to it in the event of an emergency.

It's better to use the ABS than flat spot your tires!

Yeah, but I can attest that the ABS on these cars is so damned intrusive it functions almost as stability control and it's frustrating when you're trying to trailbrake or do anything to get the frigging thing to rotate at ALL. Maybe not as much of an issue with an SVT, maybe curable with a larger rear swaybar, but my '96 V6 ATX w/ ABS is just a plowing machine (and when the ABS kicks in it seems to reduce braking effectiveness on ALL wheels) whereas my '97 duratec with skinny tires and rear drums was downright fun in the corners.

My wife had moved from autocrossing our V6 contour to autocrossing my Mustang before it occurred to me to pull the ABS fuse and see how it made the car behave on course. Since then I've heard all kinds of things about how it really fucks up the braking capability of the car. So I don't know, but I do agree that there are handling components of these cars that will drive you to want to take a sledgehammer to the ABS module from time to time.

Trailbreak in an SVT...hahaha, forget about it. I'v tried so hard not to have the ABS kick in and as far as trailbreaking and even threshold breaking goes, I'm better off putting my feet through the floor boards and stopping w/ my feet like Fred Flintstone. Honestally though, is there anything I can do do disconnect the ABS for short periods of time?

You might want to try some creative searching because I know it's been discussed before. You can pull the fuse but as far as I'm concerned the jury is still out on whether or not it's beneficial. Your owner's manual should be able to tell you which fuse to pull and what if anything else is directly affected by it.

You aren't going to be a very successful racer if you haven't mastered threshold breaking or learned to rely on ABS. Lockign up the brakes on every turn will get you nothing but warn out tires!

The thing is the ABS on these cars (my 96 anyway) is SO intrusive you can't get to threshold without it thinking there's a problem somewhere. I have had the ABS in this car cause me more panic-inducing problems than the lack of ABS has ever caused me in any other car.
