Ive been hearing so much about this exhaust resonator. What is it, and can I take it out myself? What are the benefits of taking it off?

It would be easier spending a few bucks to have an exhaust shop removing it and putting a straight pipe where the resonator was. Without the resonator you will get a deeper exhaust sound on a stock setup. Maybe a little more response out of the engine.
