good news- installed my dmd this morning. took me 2 hours. I might still come to the next dmd meet as long as my vortech is intalled by then. I'm planning on installing it a week from Sunday!

Bad news- just failed emissions because of a cel caused by my airflow meter. I'm thinking of just swapping mafs with my wife ('98 v-6). Do you see any problem with this?

Try cleaning the MAF wire with some non-chlorinated brake cleaner or something like Berryman's B12.

If that doesn't help, yes you can swap MAF's with the other car, but the calibrations are slightly different.

I bought it used from someone that said it was for a 98 svt a couple years ago for my 95se. It threw a code then and I stuck it in my closet (I secretly always knew I would own an svt). It still throws a code of this:

p1131- air meter missing HO2S switch. Sensor reads too lean.

I had it scanned a long time ago from a friend at a dealership and it was calibrated for an svt at really high elevation (iirc 3500'). I'm going to pay to have it recalibrated for my vortech and all. I'll probably just put my wife's on one day next week and do it that way.

How long does it take to throw the code? Could you reset your computer just outside of the testing station and then get it to pass emissions before the code gets thrown again?

I put in my wife's maf and it threw a code again. I took it down and reset the computer a little before I had it tested. They failed me! The readout says that I haven't driven it enough to have it tested since the computer was last reset. I'm not sure what I'm going to do.

Is anyone with an svt able to meet up with me in the next 2 days? If I could borrow an maf for a day that would be too good to be true.

I have a spare 2000 SVT MAF... You want to drive to Mill Creek? You can return it at the next meet.

OMG, are you joking? I'm not sure about driving out there because I have to work untill thursday. If I paypaled you $20 or so, would you over-night ship it to me? I know it's kind of overkill, but I need it asap. let me know.

No, I'm not joking!

I could pop it in the mail tomorrow morning, I'm pretty sure it would get to you by Thursday.

Let me know, I have to pull it off the car. I was going to put the other one back on anyway. I think I run a tad too rich with the SVT one.

I should probably be pming you, but...
I am going to pick up my pro-flow optimizer from my old car. I sold it to someone in my family so I'll borrow that. I'm pretty sure it will work fine. If you decide to put your other one on, I would be interested in buying that one off of you. I hate not having the oem equipment in my possesion and the guy I bought the car from got rid of the stock maf. Let me know.
