the S/R has 145HP instead of 130hp that the Zetec normally comes with.... Icaman intake can't remember who makes the exaust on them off hand but it not like the cheap crap ford usuallyput on their cars. and the S/R's with a good driver can run in the 15's without any other mods done to them. with a half way deacent driver the standard ZX2 MTX is a mid to low 16 second car.

Here is a little more info I found on another site.
Quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The S\R comes with a iceman intake, tokyo racing struts and eibach racing springs(1.7 in. drop), dual plated centerforce drag racing clutch that has 90% more griping power than stock, a visteon performance computer (not just a chip), a total borla catback exhaust, a short throww shifter, and some extras like a 150 speedometer, and other neat little things. Performance is above or around 160 and reports of the quarter-mile time of 15.4 seconds.

sounds about right from what I have seen them do at the track..... guess there is no way it could come close to an SVT being that after all it's only an escort with a little 4 banger.... that is about 10lbs of total weight for the car

From Edmunds.com:

ZX2-

Weight: 2478 lbs.

Acceleration (0-60 mph): 8.3 sec. Braking Distance: 147 ft.
Road Holding Index: .76 g Base Number of Cylinders: 4
Base Engine Size: 2 liters Base Engine Type: Inline 4 -1
Horsepower: 130 hp Max Horsepower: 5750 rpm
Torque: 127 ft-lbs. Max Torque: 4250 rpm

19.06 lbs/hp

19.5 lbs/ft lb

SVT -

Weight: 3126 lbs.

Base Number of Cylinders: 6 Base Engine Size: 2.5 liters
Base Engine Type: V6 -1 Horsepower: 200 hp
Max Horsepower: 6600 rpm Torque: 170 ft-lbs.
Max Torque: 5500 rpm Drive Type: FWD

15.63 lbs/hp

18.39 lbs/ft lb.

Now I thought the SVT weighed 3026 lbs, and had 177 ft/lbs of torque, but either way we should be faster, look a lot better, much more comfortable, and get more women.

5 of 6 are correct.

The SVT does weigh closer to 3000lbs without the sunroof. About 40lbs more with the sunroof.

However the SVT does make around 168-170TQ at the crank.

The being faster, looking better, being more confortable and getting more women are a given...

I have a friend with a ZX2 S/R with header/exhaust, intake, CF hood and NO2. Off the bottle he ran a 14.8, which smoked my SVT. Just a thought...

Heh heh heh, I dunno, something tells me that I met the fellow that posted this at Englishtown. Guy was running a T/C Probe and friend actually did make a mention of an Escort S/R. Oh, and the date I met these guys is in my sig. Wow, is this my 15 minutes of fame?

Hmm, maybe I should let the guy that posted worrying about the longevity of the 3L swap in on my current mileage.

Anyhoo, if this guy was "racing" a SVTC at a track, as opposed to on a public road with no advance warning, I bet there would be different results. See, that's the thing about random street races - you never know what the variations are. I know I'm carrying a few hundred extra pounds in my trunk right now (tools, etc.) and my gas tank is full. Not exactly in my quickest trim, not to mention the Blizzaks. But you better believe I'll have an empty trunk, Z rated rubber, and 3 gallons of gas when the time is right.

i just stumbled on this thread, so im sorry for being late , which is funny because i posted a pic of my brothers zx2 in the pics and vids forum.

i ran my brothers zx2 (non S/R) to a 16.0, bone stock. don't know the times on a normal contour v6 mtx, but it's pretty close i think. my brother has a 15.5 with CTA intake, JBA header, a Magnaflow exhaust (complete with crush bends, ewwww), and a pulley. it was also done on 17's, so i'm sure if he threw his stockies on and I drove it, it's capable of going a bit lower. FWIW
