how would you go about fitting a tire with an 8 or 8.5 inch width?

An 8" wide tire is essentially a 205mm wide tire, that is no problem. I have 225mm wide tires for my SVT and just barely rub in the back. That's closer to a 9" tire.

You shouldn't have any issues with a 205 or most 215's

Or do you mean an 8" wheel?

I have that very wheel in a 17x7" and I have no problems with 215/45-17's

My stock E0's with 225/50-16's have a mild rub in the back, on the tie bar.

read the original post. he asked how he can fit an 8inch or 8.5 wide wheel. i answered him. no $hit u can run other offsets if u have the time and/or money to make it work. i was giving him a suggestion to get his wheels to fit w/ minimal troubles. if he wants to run a 35 offset 8.5 wide wheel, then good luck. i would gladly love to check out that ride. instead of being an ass why dont u simply state "if willing to search for the right wheel u can (with more work) make other offsets work". i know when i ask a question i like to get as many answers and variable possibilies. or YOU can always pay 2K for a leda suspension for him to run ANY offset that his heart desires. until then, i'll try to give other members suggestions to help them get the results they want will minimal headaches based on countless other members. if he wants to take it a step further, then he can gladly do so. do me a favor and ask everyone w/ 18x8s 18x8.5 or 19x7.5 19x8 on the board what offset their wheels. i'll bet most will be similar, with exceptions bound to exist. i've been on the forums long enough and read and reread countless and countless posts regarding this same topic. so i'm not pulling #s out of my a$$.

Would you like to enlighten me on how this magical suspension would allow you to run any offset? As far as I can tell there is only so much room between the hub and the strut.

Hey, you've obviously been here longer then I have, you can go try and find someone to prove me wrong, I'll be waiting (probably for a long time).
