Well that install is over and I now have only cosmetic crap to deal with. I have been stressing about an ABS light that wouldn't seem to disappear, but it did. Usually when you dyno, the light comse on (due to the front wheels spinning and the rear not) and it goes off in a few miles. It kept going on and off for about 20 miles. Oh well. It is off now. My temp gauge failed.. I aid skip it and added a Temp gauge in my pillar pod that tells the degrees. My first runs were not awe inspiring, but they felt good.

240FWHP 185Tq on Tractor Gas (91 Octane)
252FWHP 192Tq on estimated 95 octane

On the way home I got the chance meeting with a rice group of Integra/Civic/Sentra Type-R... All of which were hooked up. I took my first three offical wins. The integra had some sh!t done and I smoked him hard. All really nice kids, on a side note. We met a few lights later and they were really cool.

Not exactly true. They have a great marketing team but it takes more than that to raise the octane level. I whole gallon of straight toluene is 121 octane. Mixed with 10 gallons of 91 you will be lucky to be at 94. It's like $10 a gallon. We opted for some 109 unleaded for $5.00 a gallon. Seeing as how Po Jay had at least 12 gallons of 91 when we mixed I estimate his octane was realisticly 93.5ish at best.

Congratulations! I am so happy that you finally have the power you've been craving. When I get around to Tucson, I am going to go up to Phoenix again and hopefully all three of us can go to the track again.
By that time my turbo install will be done, the war with IRAQ will have to be over (fingers crossed) and the three of us will be the terror of the strip for front drive vehicles.

By the way, are you going to go ahead with the intercooler and the smaller pulley so you can run more boost?

Question: Does that Vortech kit up the redline or something, I can't see how it makes 250+ HP while only making 191 Tq unless it is doing it at 7000+ rpm.
FWIW, I have 190 Torque in the 5000k range but it drops off by 6500 or so due to my cheesy air intake.

What about using the chip stuff that Streetflight is using for the Turbo kit? Once you start playing with other mods, you may want to change the tuning a bit?

Ok, enough on that note. Have fun anyway!

Tom

Tom, you are very astute! The Superchip that comes with the kit bumps my Rev Limiter to the 7600 RPM range. With the higher octane there is no pinging up in the top end. I plan on getting a custom flip chip with the typical Street and Track settings. I hope to see you soon and we will def be a terror at the track. Did you do any tranny work?

Nice work, Po-Jay! 240hp is great! I can't imagine the pull your car has now! WOW!
On the flip side, there's a guy here w/ the Vortec and NO OTHER MODS and he pulled 267! Just goes to show that there are some real ringer motors out there!
