Just a note of caution if your autoxing a V6 Contour.

I accidentaly discovered my top transmission mount was broken, the vibration suppressor shaft was sheared off. The car gave no indictaion this had happened and is probably (may be)a safety concern.

This part is located directly under the air cleaner box.
If broken you will be able to just pull the mount supression rubber right out of the mount.

I have broke mine twice!! One time it hit the hood. It was quite loud! The new one I have now seems to be holding up fine.

The trick is to find the right length bolt in a grade 8.8. I found mine at a local Menards in their specialty bolts. Otherwise if you replace the stock ford one it will break again. It's also part of the whole wheel hop equation.

Meaning if it's broken you'll get more wheelhop, right? I wonder if that's a mount that can get welded in like Bnoon did with his 3.0L install.

Thanks for the heads up David!! Now I have something ELSE to look at when I pull my engine. (If all works out I may be pulling stuff this weekend...)

You'd think this would've been a recall by now....

No, that's actully the one I did leave stock. The three others I changed out to solid mounts to help get the power to the ground. The driver's side trans mount would be easy to turn a custom solid bushing from billet though...
