i noticed my right cv boot was torn now my car makes a kind of popping noise when i turn and accelerate has anyone had this problem? probably have to put in a new cv.

Ya that sounds like you will have to replace it. Be careful that its not the inside boot cause it will trash your alternator like what happened to me.

You'll probably be better off replacing the entire driveaxle/cv joint assembly. Rebuilt ones at O'Reilly's run about $60 for the entire unit.

someone just posted that driveshaftshop.com now offers stage II axles for the contour capable of like 325hp

Sometimes you only need to replace the boot.


Had a car once that destroyed both sides - one needed CV total; other only boot.


Was the worn boot not seen on last service, or do you do your own and didnt notice it??
