I will throw this out.....

Could Mirko develope rear strut tower "wings" (what his STB and the ST200 4-point brace bolts to) similar to what the Cougar has? At least a few CEGers have built homemade wings to weld on to STB so they could mount the ST200 rear STB. This would allow you to use the Cougar rear STB already available on Contours..reduced R&D cost I would think..I would buy a pair so I could mount my ST200 brace..I rather do this than fabricate.

These wings could be bolt in or weld in...

yes it does mean less r&d for mirko but what about cost for us.......

i mean no offense and all, but lets look at it this way....mirko produces fantastic quality products, i love em.....but since their battery tie down is 40 bucks on special, dont you think you might be able to gauge some future prices here......i would expect something like this to cost at least 50 bucks or more....plus a separate stb.......

just doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me......

not knocking mirko in anyway (i promise missy ) but i think i would rather have a stb.

no offense taken.... so where do you live exactly??

Mirko is always open to suggestions, if there is enough interest then it's always worth considering. So see how much interest you have for the rear strut tower "wings" and if you get enough people interested I'll talk to Mirko about it.

I don't think you know what he's refering to. The Cougar ST200 rear STB is a much better design. He's refering to have Mikro make something so we can fit it in our car. The Cougar ST200 rear STB is going to be way better than any single STB out there I'd say. So if they make an adapter (how about using that word instead of the word "wing"), I'd rather get that and the ST200 STB (or they can make it themselves and I'll get it from them) than a single bar STB.

Correct..in addition, the Mirko Cougar bar also bolts to the wings/adapter. I think that if Mirko made (relatively simple)adapters, then Contour owners could use either the Mirko Cougar bar or the ST200 4-point bar. By lower developement cost, I mean that Mirko would not have to design a whole new bar, just the adapter...which would be steel & easier to work with than the aluminum bar. I think this would be less total R&D cost than a whole new bar. This should increase the volume of sales on his existing Cougar bar which might bring cost down slightly.

Well I can ask, but I don't know whether he would be interested in making parts to fit " other " parts. If that is what you want start a new topic for wings/adaptors on the Mirko Forum so we can keep it easy to follow who wants what.

personal view That's almost as bad as someone asking if they can have parts off his cougars to send to someone else to make a competitive part, knowing that Mirko was also doing that... and that went down like a tonne of bricks. To be honest I'm not really comfortable asking him to make wings, but I will if that is what you guys want because it's my job.

Its up to you...

The idea was make the wing/adapter to fit the Contour strut towers so that MIRKO'S OWN COUGAR STB would bolt to it. Because Mirko's bar looks EXACTLY like to top portion of the ST200 front STB..I assume it will work with that as well (though it may not). The ST200 bars are I believe all sold out or maybe a few left. They are not really competition for Mirko at this point..they were left over euro production parts, so no more will be made.

I did not want to buy ANY other existing rear STB, because they all rely on flimsy srcews with no bolts or backing plates. The ST200 bar bolted with backing plates to the metal wings (welded factory parts on Cougar) giving a secrue attachment. A better system & Only way to go IMO. But if nobody else is interested, no big deal I would just fabricate some...

Ok, I mis-understood your meaning, I thought you wanted to be able to use other parts with it. I'm glad you clarified that for everyone.

It was those comments that made me unsure.
