I was speaking (via e-mail) to Sean at SHM regarding the long tube headers he used to make for the contours. He advised that although he does not currently make them, he would be interested in doing a batch run if we had the numbers to jutify it. Sean Hyland Motorsports is, of course, a leading developer and producer of high end Ford performance products. I believe, in fact, that the SHOShop SVT uses a set of these headers. NOTE: They are, apparently, very instrusive, and in all likelihood require the use of a remote oil filter assembly. Additional installation details could be gotten upon request, I'm sure.
Any interest in these? I run a dyno shop and use SHM Mafterburner with great success - my point, I guess, is that I find SHM great to deal with.

SHM install warning

Go with the MSDS and have them jet coated instead.

Have you had experience with both? I am interested, actually, in getting dyno results for each of these. Always have been a fan of long tube headers. Shorty's seem like another compromise. I am aware that the SHOshop pushes MSDS, but am curious why they have not opted for them on their own machine.

I had the MSDS, but they started rusting all over. Very badly on the y-pipe. Marty at MSDS is a great guy and recoated them for free.

I had to take them out and the SHMs were available to me (used, slightly damaged), so I went with them.
Performance difference is hard to tell, but I think the SHMs are better throughout the band though.

AFAIK, no one has any dyno #s between stock, gutted, MSDS, and SHMs.
But JessMan has baseline #s down and will dyno after he's got the jetcoated MSDS on the car next year.

If I had to do it all over again, I would have done MSDS + jetcoat to avoid the headaches associated with the SHMs.

Hey 3litreman,

I'd like to hear your opinions of the MAFterburner product. What's the name of your shop? Just curious. BTW, I created the MAFterburner and the new eFPC (returnless fuel pressure controller). Have you checked out our website lately (www.mafterburner.com)? There are some software updates that you should get if you haven't already. We also have a smart nitrous controller for returnless cars in development (release spring '03).
