Did it turn over when you jumped it? If not then the jumper cable connection was bad unless you could hear the starter whirring and not engaging anything. If it did turn over and not start, then you've got problems with spark or fuel.

Rick i know for a fact the wires were on. The eye on the battery went to green, All i could hear is the car trying to start but wouldnt. Its more of a sound like you said a whirring but wouldnt kick over no mater what we did. Thank god i have the extended warrenty. I should know soon what the problem is, At least i hope

If you could here the starter whirring freely it means the starter wasn't engaging the flywheel. My guess is the starter is bad. Cold weather could easily have gummed up the bearing grease enough for the bendix and wouldn't allow it to come forward enough to engage the flywheel teeth.

Check for fuel....

Over the summer my fuel pump died and the car would crank and crank but never turn over. Or just this week, my IAC valve went bad and the car would do the same thing, crank but no start.

My Diagnosis (from an ASE tech):

'Ask, and ye shall receive'
God probably 'Danged it', right at that point, the first time you ever said: "God dangit!", to your Contour.
But the HARD part, is figuring out what his exact definition of the word: 'dangit' is
Has this event been followed by a continuous string of other 'mysterious' car problems, or is this an isolated incident?
