Ok now you guys might think I'm crazy, but I'm giving up on duratechs! This is the 3rd one I have gone through. I am very tired of spun bearings I'm going to be getting a zetec, and I want to make it turbo. What is the best way to go, and what will I need? I am on a budget but i want to get the right stuff.

A MTX Zetec can be difficult to find, especially if you want a 98+. And they are usually the worst optioned. I found one that was perfect for me, but it did not have power locks or windows. I NEED those on a four door. I suppose if you do not care what year you get, it would be much easier. Anyways, here is an inexpensive solution: 1. MTX Zetec with a solid motor 2. Wheels (Many come with hubcaps, not acceptable) 3. 200HP turbo kit 4. 2.5" exhaust piping Or it would probably be easier to find a higher mileage motor and rebuild/build it up. I guess it all depends on how much power you want.

That is what I was looking at, but I did not have an SVT to sell. I found the MTX Zetec, same year, same color, same mileage, too good to be true.
Sell ATX SE Zetec -$7000 Buy MTX GL Zetec $5000 16" wheels and rubber $800 200HP turbo $3000 2.5" single exhaust ?$500?
So I was looking at ROUGHLY at $2500 for a faster car, but alas, power windows and locks. And my Zetec is ridiculously reliable, so I had to factor that in as a risk.
Good luck.

I'm not selling my entire car, just the engine and trans. The rest of my car is set up the way I like it. I just want a more reliable engine. I keep trashing the bottom ends. I'm looking at a 98 zetec out of a ZX2 right now. I'm just going to build it up from there.

Just somethign to throw out there. AS I have a few spun bearings in my car, and I was partially at fault.

Oh I'm sure it is definatly partly my fault. But I think a Zetec could be a little more reliable.

Just out of curiosity, were you using a DMD on any of your 3 Duratech engines?

In that case I would forget about a Zetec. It is going to be a HUGE pain in the ass to make your SVT take a Zetec. It will not be cost nor time effective. It would be cool no doubt, but it would cost you thousands in parts and who knows how much time.

HE doesn't have an SVT....but yeah you'd need new wiring harness', PCM, trans bell housing atleast, bla bla bla...would be cool, the demon dynamics stage 3 kit claims 350bhp and that's WITHOUT an intercooler IIRC!
