question for the people, is this body kit dot approved? are any? do they need to be? i got dinged by a cop yesterday for having changed by windshield washer nozzles with non dot approved ones. he said to me in a snotty, arrogant tone that nothing but dot approved parts are allowed on the car. I have ventvisors, i don't even know if they are dot approved. Now i got a $58 ticket. I'm challenging this in court. because i believe we have the right to dress our cars up the way we like them. (freedom of expression) what do you guys think?

DOT = Dept. of Transportation I think that it will completely depend on your state and your knowledge of federal code reguarding aftermarket car parts. There are laws on the books (although seldom enforced) that regulate every part of an automobile(although they are usually ridiculously vague). Basically if the box the nozzles came in said "intended for off road use only" then they can probably tag you for it. Be careful going to court, cause even if you get the fine dropped you'll still have to pay the court costs.

only if your windshield washers were flashing should he be able to give you a ticket, maybe if they were lit up (especially blue/red), definetly not in the day. i know where i live you can have body kit, washer nozzles, underbody neons as long as they don't flash, and i've been told even drive w/o a hood. and i wouldn't want one of those generic mustang style scoops, saw it on two foci today, gets old.
