Hi Guys,

I've had a problem that has now happened twice within the last week on my 95 2.5L MTX.

While downshifting and laying on the gas heavy, the car seems to nearly stall out. The engine will continue to run, but when I give it gas, it acts like there is a governor on or something. The car doesn't accelerate, and continues to act like this until it finally does stall out.

After it stalls out, I am able to restart the car, and it will drive just fine.

Any thoughts?

I've been having this same problem with my 95 GL.
the mechanic said it may have to do with the MAF as it was quite corroded when he attempted to take a look at some of the problems I've been having.
He cleaned it up, but suggested it will need replacing.
Mike said it's been running a bit better since the cleaning.
(he's driven it more than me).
I've got a number of other things to replace/repair on it coming up soon so I'll let ya know if that helps it (unless you get yours fixed before that).
