I got to talking w/ a guy from another forum and he's invited me to work corners at this weekend's ASRA event (Arizona Sports Racing Association). It seems to be a hybrid of NASA and SCCA. I've never been to anything like this but imagine it'll be fun.

Any tips for a newbie?

You'll be educated on the flag codes... no problem there.
You'll have a corner leader if you work a corner.
Think of yourself as a spotter for every car out there.
It'll be a lot of fun... the only problem is that you'll wish you were on track.

The really cool thing is there will be a 30-minute or so session for the corner workers to get out on the track and play. I'll have the opportunity to bring some of the "instructors" with me to give me pointers and such.

I'm so stoked for this
